A generalization of Laplace and Fourier transforms [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
In this note we propose a generalization of the Laplace and Fourier transforms which we call symmetric Laplace transform. It combines both the advantages of the Fourier and Laplace transforms. We give the definition of this generalization, some examples and basic properties.

Regularization of the inverse Laplace transform by Mollification [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
In this paper we study the inverse Laplace transform. We first derive a new global logarithmic stability estimate that shows that the inversion is severely ill-posed. Then we propose a regularization method to compute the inverse Laplace transform using the concept of mollification.

Effects of pressure depletion rate, solvent, and surfactant on non‐equilibrium reactions in foamy oil

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Overview of the Investigation into the Effective Operating Parameters of the Foamy Oil Process. Abstract This research employed a visual method to explore the behaviour of foamy oil in heavy oil systems. A Hele‐Shaw cell was designed for observing the volumetric expansion of foamy oil as the system pressure decreased.

A generalized integral transform and an alternative technique for solving linear ordinary differential equations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
In the present paper authors introduce the L_n-integral transform and the inverse integral transform for n = 2^k, k=0,1,2,..., as a generalization of the classical Laplace transform and the inverse Laplace transform, respectively. Applicability of this transforms in solving linear ordinary differential equations is analyzed.

Fast and scalable inference for spatial extreme value models

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Statistics, EarlyView.
Abstract The generalized extreme value (GEV) distribution is a popular model for analyzing and forecasting extreme weather data. To increase prediction accuracy, spatial information is often pooled via a latent Gaussian process (GP) on the GEV parameters. Inference for GEV‐GP models is typically carried out using Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) methods,

Numerical inversion of the Laplace transform

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1973
A very simple and efficient program for the numerical inversion of the Laplace transform is presented. Its high accuracy is shown for test functions with known inverses.

Numerical inversion of the Laplace transform [PDF]

open access: yesFacta universitatis - series: Electronics and Energetics, 2005
We give a short account on the methods for numerical inversion of the Laplace transform and also propose a new method. Our method is inspired and motivated from a problem of the evaluation of the M?ntz polynomials (see [1]), as well as the construction of the generalized Gaussian quadrature rules for the M?ntz systems (see [2]).

The Generalized Hermite Spectral Method Combined with Laplace Transform for Solution of the Time Fractional Fokker–Planck Equation

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematical Physics
The paper proposes a method to solve the time fractional Fokker–Planck equation using the generalized Hermite spectral method and Laplace transform. By the Laplace transform, the ordinary differential equation about the orthogonal expansion coefficient ...

Some Laplace transforms and integral representations for parabolic cylinder functions and error functions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
This paper uses the convolution theorem of the Laplace transform to derive new inverse Laplace transforms for the product of two parabolic cylinder functions in which the arguments may have opposite sign. These transforms are subsequently specialized for products of the error function and its complement thereby yielding new integral representations for

Susceptible‐infected‐recovered model with stochastic transmission

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Statistics, EarlyView.
Abstract The susceptible‐infected‐recovered (SIR) model is the cornerstone of epidemiological models. However, this specification depends on two parameters only, which results in its lack of flexibility and explains its difficulty to replicate the volatile reproduction numbers observed in practice.
