INVERSE MODELING IN GEOPHYSICAL APPLICATIONS

Applied and Industrial Mathematics in Italy II, 2007
The interpretation of the potential fleld data is an useful tool that allows for both investigating the subsurface structures and providing a quantitative evaluation of the geophysical process preceding and accompanying period of volcanic unrest. Potential fleld inversion problem are required to combine forward models with appropriate optimization ...

An inverse daylighting model for CAAD

Proceedings of the 24th Spring Conference on Computer Graphics, 2008
This paper presents an inverse daylighting model devoted to the design of building openings. The inverse daylighting model includes sky lighting as well as light reflected by surroundings, and therefore combines near-field and far-field light sources.

Camera model for inverse perspective

ACM SIGGRAPH ASIA 2010 Posters, 2010
Inverse perspective is a convention of perspective drawing where the farther the objects are, the larger they are drawn. That kind of artistic rendering[Agrawala et al. 2000; Coleman and Singh 2004] is an important research area in Computer Graphics, however not so many research works were done for this projection property.

Adjoint modeling for acoustic inversion

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2004
The use of adjoint modeling for acoustic inversion is investigated. An adjoint model is derived from a linearized forward propagation model to propagate data-model misfit at the observation points back through the medium to the medium perturbations not being accounted for in the model.

A generalized model of inversion polymorphism

Journal of Theoretical Biology, 1974
Abstract An earlier mathematical analysis of chromosomal inversion dynamics is extended. A complete list of possible equilibria is given. The various types are compared with those found in the previous work.

Inverse Design via PLS Model Inversion

Ultimately, product formulation requires being able to answer a simple question: what needs to be done in order to guarantee the desired product characteristics? The answer and how to get to it, however, is not as easy to state, and several approaches have been developed in the past to tackle it.

An inversion algorithm for geometric models

Proceedings of the 9th annual conference on Computer graphics and interactive techniques, 1982
Instead of storing boundary models of solids directly into a data base, it would be advantageous to map them first into a simpler form. This approach calls for a procedure called in this paper the inversion algorithm of a geometric model.

Inverse Procedural Modeling of Knitwear

2019 IEEE/CVF Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR), 2019
The analysis and modeling of cloth has received a lot of attention in recent years. While recent approaches are focused on woven cloth, we present a novel practical approach for the inference of more complex knitwear structures as well as the respective knitting instructions from only a single image without attached annotations. Knitwear is produced by

An Inverse Model

2003
When Bernard Minster and Tom Jordan, together with Peter Molnar and Ian Haines, first published their inverse plate kinematic model in 1974 (Minster et al. 1974), the affect on the tectonics community was extraordinary. Jason Morgan had already published a global plate tectonics model parameterized in Cartesian vectors (Morgan 1972a), while Clement ...

Model calculations of inverse photoemission

Physical Review B, 1992
The electron-energy distribution of inverse-photoemission yield at fixed photon energy is calculated for a one-dimensional model of the potential energy that allows for both a bulk band gap and a surface barrier with an image-potential tail. By varying the width of the band gap in this model, surface states can be transformed into surface resonances ...
