3D Printing of Highly Dense and Translucent Zirconia Parts for Dental Applications: Effect of Filament Overlapping

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This study formulated a 5Y‐PSZ zirconia paste for extrusion‐based additive manufacturing via direct ink writing, producing dense ceramic structures for dental applications. A colloidal approach with 47 vol% nanometric powder and tailored additives optimized rheology and printability.

Inverse Exponentiated Lomax Power Series Distribution: Model, Estimation, and Application

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics, 2022
In this paper, we introduce the inverse exponentiated Lomax power series (IELoPS) class of distributions, obtained by compounding the inverse exponentiated Lomax and power series distributions.

Transmuted Generalized Inverse Weibull Distribution

open access: yes, 2013
A generalization of the generalized inverse Weibull distribution so-called transmuted generalized inverse Weibull dis- tribution is proposed and studied. We will use the quadratic rank transmutation map (QRTM) in order to generate a flexible family of probability distributions taking generalized inverse Weibull distribution as the base value ...

Lattice Structures for Bone Replacement: The Intersection of Bone Biomechanics, Lattice Design, and Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This review outlines how understanding bone's biology, hierarchical architecture, and mechanical anisotropy informs the design of lattice structures that replicate bone morphology and mechanical behavior. Additive manufacturing enables the fabrication of orthopedic implants that incorporate such structures using a range of engineering materials ...

Accommodating the Analysis Model in Multiple Imputation for the Weibull Mixture Cure Model: Performance Under Penalized Likelihood. [PDF]

open access: yesStat Med
ABSTRACT Introduction In analysis of time‐to‐event outcomes, a mixture cure (MC) model is preferred over a standard survival model when the sample includes individuals who will never experience the event of interest. Motivated by a cohort study of breast cancer patients with incomplete biomarkers, we develop multiple imputation (MI) methods assuming a ...

Bayesian and Frequentist Two-Sample Predictions of the Inverse Weibull Model Based on Generalized Order Statistics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 62E16,62F15, 62H12, 62M20.This paper is concerned with the problem of deriving Bayesian prediction bounds for the future observations (two-sample prediction) from the inverse Weibull distribution based on ...

Mechanical property variation mechanisms of granite subjected to real‐time high temperatures and subsequent cooling treatment

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study investigates the coupled thermo‐mechanical behavior of granite during heating and cooling through a combination of laboratory tests and finite element analysis. The thermal conductivity, mineral composition, mass loss rate, micro‐crack observation, and thermal fracture characteristics of granite under various temperature conditions are ...

Performance analysis of methods to estimate Weibull parameters for the compressive strength of concrete

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials, 2023
The compressive strength of normal-weight concrete can be well-described by the Weibull distribution, but there is a lack of research on the efficiency of the estimation methods employed for determining the Weibull distribution parameters.

The damage and failure mechanism of prestatically loaded rock during medium‐strain rate cyclic impact loading

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Based on experimental results and theoretical analysis, an established rock damage accumulation model that comprehensively considers the preapplied static load, impact peak value, impact frequency, and impact times. Abstract To study the rock damage mechanism under high static loading and superimposed medium strain rate cyclic impact loading, a series ...
