The 2500‐year‐old Mulberry‐dyke and Fish‐pond agricultural heritage system reveals how interconnected habitats foster microbial diversity. Multi‐habitat landscapes enhance microbial diversity through cross‐habitat dispersal and adaptive trait convergence. Globally, regions with diverse habitats support a greater diversity of soil microbiomes.

At 2 5 °C, thermal activation initiates: i) CcIav/CcNan heterotetramer assembly → Ca2⁺ influx; ii) CcPKCα phosphorylation → AKH signaling potentiation; iii) CcAKH1 binding to membrane‐localized CcAKHR → energy mobilization (lipid catabolism/glycogenolysis) and vitellogenin transport via follicular patency; iv) Oocyte maturation → summer‐form nymph ...

Evolution of Innate Immunity: Clues from Invertebrates via Fish to Mammals
Host responses against invading pathogens are basic physiological reactions of all living organisms. Since the appearance of the first eukaryotic cells, a series of defense mechanisms have evolved in order to secure cellular integrity, homeostasis, and ...

Genomic data offer a powerful tool for studying the molecular interactions between parasites and their hosts, but they remain scarce for parasitic monogenean flatworms. This study presents the first high‐quality phased genome assembly for monogeneans (Gyrodactylus kobayashii), and uses it to predict key interacting proteins between monogenean parasite ‐

The traditional view of innate immunity in insects is that every exposure to a pathogen triggers an identical and appropriate immune response and that prior exposures to pathogens do not confer any protective (i.e., adaptive) effect against subsequent ...

Matrotrophy and placentation in invertebrates: a new paradigm
Matrotrophy, the continuous extra‐vitelline supply of nutrients from the parent to the progeny during gestation, is one of the masterpieces of nature, contributing to offspring fitness and often correlated with evolutionary diversification.
