Oligonucleotide that binds nuclear factor NF-kappa-B acts as a lymphoid-specific and inducible enhancer element [PDF]
The immunoglobulin kappa light chain gene contains a lymphoid-specific enhancer that includes several short protein-binding sequences. The sequence that binds the nuclear factor NF-kappa B was tested for its ability to act independently as an enhancer ...

ABSTRACT Objectives To investigate whether pulse pressure or mean arterial pressure mediates the relationship between age and white matter hyperintensity load and to examine the mediating effect of white matter hyperintensities on cognition. Methods Demographic information, blood pressure, current medication lists, and Montreal Cognitive Assessment ...

Structure and evolution of chlorate reduction composite transposons. [PDF]
UnlabelledThe genes for chlorate reduction in six bacterial strains were analyzed in order to gain insight into the metabolism. A newly isolated chlorate-reducing bacterium (Shewanella algae ACDC) and three previously isolated strains (Ideonella ...

Summary Lycophytes are a key group for understanding vascular plant evolution. Lycophyte plastomes are highly distinct, indicating a dynamic evolutionary history, but detailed evaluation is hindered by the limited availability of sequences. Eight diverse

Relocation into the nucleus of the yeast cytoplasmic linear plasmids was studied using a monitor plasmid pCLU1. In Saccharomyces cerevisiae, the nuclearly-relocated pCLU1 replicated in a linear form (termed pTLU-type plasmid) which carried the host ...

The complete plastome and phylogenetic analysis of Rhoiptelea chiliantha (Juglandaceae)
The complete plastome of Rhoiptelea chiliantha was sequenced and assembled in this study. The circular plastome of R. chiliantha is 161,702 bp in size, which contains a large single-copy region (LSC, 90,447 bp), a short single-copy region (SSC, 19,081 bp)

SARS‐CoV‐2 Is Linked to Brain Volume Loss in Multiple Sclerosis
ABSTRACT Objective The impact of SARS‐CoV‐2 infection on brain and spinal cord pathology in patients with multiple sclerosis (pwMS) remains unclear. We aimed to describe changes in brain lesion activity and brain and spinal cord volumes following SARS‐CoV‐2 infection.

Amplification of a transgene within a long array of replication origins favors higher gene expression in animal cells. [PDF]
Plasmids with both a mammalian replication initiation region (IR) and a matrix attachment region (MAR) are spontaneously amplified in transfected cells, and generate extrachromosomal double minute (DM) or chromosomal homogeneously staining region (HSR ...

Hypoxia promotes the epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) of renal tubular epithelial cells via the SIRT1‐FoxO1‐FoxO3‐autophagy pathway, thereby resulting in the fibrosis of renal tubular epithelial cells. Activation of SIRT1 or induction of autophagy inhibits this process, alleviating hypoxia‐induced fibrosis.
