The complete chloroplast genome of Juniperus tibetica (Cupressaceae), the conifer that occupies the highest known treeline in the Northern Hemisphere

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2019
Juniperus tibetica forms the highest known treeline in the Northern Hemisphere at 4900 m a.s.l., and it is categorized as ‘vulnerable’ in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

Dual‐Nanoparticle Engineered Hydrogel Reverses Bicellular Oxidative Stress to Accelerate Diabetic Fracture Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
CD105‐LNPs and PS‐LNPs can deliver α‐lipoic acid to bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells and bone marrow‐derived macrophages, reversing high glucose‐induced oxidative stress while enhancing osteogenesis and M2 polarization. Integrating both nanoparticles into glucose‐responsive hyaluronic acid hydrogel forms DLNPs@HA hydrogel, which accelerates diabetic ...

Probing Early Particle‐Cell Membrane Interactions via Single‐Cell and Single‐Particle Interaction Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The pre‐internalization phase of endocytosis remains poorly characterized at single‐cell levels. Single‐cell pre‐internalization mechanics are investigated using advanced robotic techniques. Cancer cells exhibit biphasic adhesion – rapid initial binding followed by reinforcement – while fibroblasts show gradual engagement.

The Effect of Repetition and Expertise on Liking and Complexity in Contemporary Music [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Aesthetic perception of music has been extensively researched in the last decades. Numerous studies suggest that listeners find a piece of music more or less pleasant according to its complexity.

The complete chloroplast genome of monotypic fern, Mesopteris tonkinensis (Thelypteridaceae)

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2018
Mesopteris tonkinensis is monotypic species in the genus Mesopteris (Thelypteridaceae). We characterized its complete chloroplast genome sequences by Illumina sequencing and de novo assembly.

Edge‐Delocalized Electron Effect on Self‐Expediating Desolvation Kinetics for Low‐Temperature Li─S Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The self‐transformed Schottky heterojunction on MXene is developed to facilitate the dissociation of Li (solvent)x+ to achieve fast Li+ desolvation to promote rapid sulfur conversion kinetics by decreasing the related barriers, contributing to high‐performance Li─S batteries under low‐temperatures.

Lipid Nanoparticle‐Mediated CRISPR‐Cas13a Delivery for the Control of Bacterial Infection

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 7, March 14, 2025.
New formulations of lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) that can deliver nucleic acids to Gram‐negative bacteria are proposed to combat bacterial infection. The delivery of nucleic acids by LNPs is aided by LNP‐helpers which weaken the bacterial outer membrane. LNPs encapsulating the Cas13a/gRNA expression vector achieve an antibacterial effect in both in vivo ...

Bioengineering a Patient‐Derived Vascularized Lung Tumor‐on‐Chip Model to Decipher Immunomodulation by the Endothelium

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Most in vitro cancer models lack cellular diversity, functional complexity, and clinical relevance. This work highlights the generation of an innovative dynamic tetraculture with autologous patient‐derived cells within a vascularized tumor‐on‐chip, as well as the recapitulation of endothelial anergy features induced by the tumor microenvironment ...
