Comprehensive Phasor Domain Short Circuit Analysis of Bulk Power Transmission Systems in Presence of Inverter-Based Resources

open access: yesIEEE Access
Phasor domain fault analysis of bulk power systems uses a linear model, where generators are represented as Thevenin equivalents and loads are neglected.

Spin‐Split Edge States in Metal‐Supported Graphene Nanoislands Obtained by CVD

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Combining STM measurements and ab‐initio calculations, we show that zig‐zag edges in graphene nanoislands grown on Ni(111) by CVD retrieve their spin‐polarized edge states after intercalation of a few monolayers of Au. ABSTRACT Spin‐split states localized on zigzag edges have been predicted for different free‐standing graphene nanostructures.

Impact of IBR Current Injection on Measured Impedance During Power Swings: An Intuitive Analytical Approach

open access: yesIEEE Access
This paper presents a simplified analytical framework to explain the behavior of impedance measured by distance relays during power swings in systems with inverter-based resources (IBRs). By extending classical single-machine infinite-bus (SMIB) analysis,

Enhancement of fault current contribution from inverter-based resources

open access: yes, 2022
The reduction in levels of fault current infeed as inverter-based resources (IBR) displace synchronous machines undermines the ability of a conventional protection system to identify and isolate faults in an effective manner and is therefore a concern for system operators (SOs). This observation provided the motivation to investigate the limitations of

Flexible Dielectric Acoustic Resonator Patch for Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A flexible dielectric acoustic resonator patch enables MHz‐range ultrasound generation through resonance amplification without using piezoelectric materials. Conformal integration on a curved substrate allows efficient acoustic delivery to tissue‐mimicking environments.

Ion‐Reconfigurable “N”‐Shaped Antiambipolar Behavior in Organic Electrochemical Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A unique N‐shaped negative differential transconductance (NDT) characteristics is demonstrated in single‐polymer organic electrochemical transistors through a sequential doping–redox–doping process driven by iodide ions. This redox‐driven mechanism enables low‐voltage, ion‐controlled reconfigurability and tunable current modulation, allowing seamless ...

LEAD: Literature Enhanced Ab Initio Discovery of Nitride Dusting Layers for Enhanced Tunnel Magnetoresistance and Lower Resistance Magnetic Tunnel Junctions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) using MgO tunnel barriers face challenges of high resistance‐area product and low tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR). To discover alternative materials, Literature Enhanced Ab initio Discovery (LEAD) is developed. The LEAD‐predicted materials are theoretically evaluated, showing that MTJs with dusting of ScN or TiN on ...
