Strategic Capital Budgeting: Asset Replacement Under Uncertainty [PDF]

open access: yes
We consider a firm's decision to replace an existing production technology with a new, more cost-efficient one.Kulatilaka and Perotti [1998, Management Science] nd that, in a two-period model, increased product market uncertainty could encourage the firm

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Optimal life cycle asset allocation : understanding the empirical evidence. [PDF]

open access: yes
We show that a life-cycle model with realistically calibrated uninsurable labor income risk and moderate risk aversion can simultaneously match stock market participation rates and asset allocation decisions conditional on participation.

Targeting p38α in cancer: challenges, opportunities, and emerging strategies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
p38α normally regulates cellular stress responses and homeostasis and suppresses malignant transformation. In cancer, however, p38α is co‐opted to drive context‐dependent proliferation and dissemination. p38α also supports key functions in cells of the tumor microenvironment, including fibroblasts, myeloid cells, and T lymphocytes.

Spatial–temporal differentiation law of habitat quality and its driving mechanism in the typical plateau areas of the Loess Plateau in the recent 30 years

open access: yesOpen Geosciences
The Dongzhi Plateau, the largest remaining loess tableland on the Chinese Loess Plateau, is a critical region within the Yellow River Basin, and its ecological health is vital for regional ecological security and sustainable development.

Portfolio choice with internal habit formation : a life-cycle model with uninsurable labor income risk. [PDF]

open access: yes
Motivated by the success of internal habit formation preferences in explaining asset pricing puzzles, we introduce these preferences in a life-cycle model of consumption and portfolio choice with liquidity constraints, undiversifiable labor income risk ...

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Geospatial Modeling of Carbon Emission Reduction Achievement in Siak Regency, Riau Province

open access: yesJurnal Ilmu Kehutanan
The Siak Regency implemented the Green Siak Policy in 2016 to commit to reducing carbon emissions. This research aimed to assess land use and land cover (LULC) changes from 2016 to 2023 and make projections for 2030, quantify carbon stocks by LULC type ...

Foreign stock holdings: the role of information [PDF]

open access: yes
The household finance literature documents a large fraction of the population not participating in stock markets. It is also puzzling that a much greater share of households do not participate in foreign stock markets.
