An improved dental casting investment

European Journal of Oral Sciences, 1980
Abstract –In the present investigation a gypsum‐bonded investment is presented with negligible setting expansion and a thermal expansion of 1. 7%. This investment can and should be used without a steel casting ring. In combination with an earlier described die‐spacing technique the new investment facilitates the production of gold inlays and crowns ...

Modeling the investment casting of a titanium crown

Dental Materials, 2007
The objective of this study was to apply computational modeling tools to assist in the design of titanium dental castings. The tools developed should incorporate state-of-the-art micromodels to predict the depth to which the mechanical properties of the crown are affected by contamination from the mold.

The permeability of dental casting investments

Journal of Dentistry, 1974
Gas permeation through investment materials is important in obtaining sound castings by centrifugal or gas-pressure techniques. The equations governing permeation are presented, followed by measurements of the permeability to air of casting investments, comparing different types of material, powder : liquid ratios, and bake-out temperatures.

Modelling of the investment casting process

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2003
Abstract The aim of this paper is to present the modelling work carried for the FOCAST project in order to acquire a better understanding of the physical phenomena which control the investment casting processes. The paper will first present the general approach used by the authors.

PROGRESS IN INVESTMENT CASTING

Metallurgical Reviews, 1960
AbstractIn preparing this review the guiding question has been: What is the most significant development in investment casting over the past seven years? In 1952, the book “Investment Castings for Engineers” was published. At that time, the investment-casting industry was roughly ten years old, and the book constitutes a survey of the state of the art ...

Permeability and porosity of dental casting investments

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1975
Permeability of various gypsum- and phosphate-bonded investments was measured during conventional burn-out procedures. Porosity determinations were made on specimens cooled to room temperature after burn-out. As a group, the gypsum-bonded investments were found to be more permeable than the phosphate-bonded investments. Two phosphate-bonded investments
