Self‐Cooling Molecular Spin Qudits

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A material made of [GdEr] molecular dimers can encode a qudit and perform as a magnetic refrigerant. Microwave resonant pulses coherently manipulate its 16 spin states, while direct demagnetization measurements cool the material and a device down to temperatures below 1 K.

Investment in Financial Information and Portfolio Performance

open access: yesEconomica, 2020
Financial information allows investors to condition the portfolio allocation on valuable signals on asset returns. Therefore investors have incentives to spend on information gathering. If interpreted correctly, information signals allow investors to obtain higher returns and more efficient portfolios.

High Light Utilization and Color Rendering in Vacuum‐Deposited Semitransparent Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, low bandgap (≈1.55 eV) semitransparent perovskite solar cells (ST‐PSCs) having thin (thickness < ≈100 nm) perovskite layers and transparent conductive oxide‐based rear electrodes are fabricated using vacuum‐deposition methods. Two different ST‐PSCs demonstrated a high light utilization efficiency value of 4.2 (PCE: 9.26% and AVT: 45.3 ...

Polyimide‐Linked Hexaazatriphenylene‐Based Porous Organic Polymer with Multiple Redox‐Active Sites as a High‐Capacity Organic Cathode for Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A high‐capacity polyimide‐linked porous organic polymer (HAT‐PTO) incorporating numerous redox‐active centers is synthesized via a hydrothermal reaction, delivering a high theoretical capacity of 484 mAh g−1. In situ hybridization with carboxyl‐functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes enhances conductivity and stability, achieving 397 mAh g−1 at C ...

Investing for profit, investing for impact: Moral performances in agricultural investment projects.

open access: yesÉconomie des conventions, 2017
The recent global boom in agricultural investment has spurred much normative critique of “land grabbing,” but amidst this critical scrutiny investor morality has remained a black box. This article examines the role of ethical narratives in advancing the financialization of nature by comparing how agricultural investment projects are pitched and ...

Azobenzene's Cross‐Scale Optics and Photonics: Molecular Photoswitching, Mesoscopic Material Motions, and Adaptive Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Azobenzene photoswitches translate molecular‐scale E/Z photoisomerization into macroscopic material responses and device‐level photonic functions. This Review highlights how azobenzene research has evolved from molecular photochemistry to photoalignment, mass migration, photomechanics, and heat release, ultimately enabling holography, reconfigurable ...

Prediction of TBM penetration rate for different surrounding rocks and cutter head diameters

open access: yesHeliyon
The penetration rate (PR) of tunnel boring machines (TBMs) is often used to evaluate tunneling performance and predict construction period costs. However, most penetration rate (PR) prediction models are based on a single specific project, which leads to
