A Hedged Monte Carlo Approach to Real Option Pricing

open access: yes, 2015
In this work we are concerned with valuing optionalities associated to invest or to delay investment in a project when the available information provided to the manager comes from simulated data of cash flows under historical (or subjective) measure in a

Flexible and High‐Performance Perovskite‐Polymer Composites for Dual X‐Ray and Proton Direct Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A polymer–perovskite composite obtained by mechanochemical synthesis enables thick, tunable active layers for efficient absorption of highly penetrating ionizing radiation. Vertical‐electrode detectors achieve low X‐ray detection limits and high sensitivity direct 5 MeV proton sensing.

Taxation of risky investment and paradoxical investor behavior [PDF]

open access: yes
Under uncertainty and irreversibility, real option-based models are widely accepted for assessing investment projects. So far the existing post-tax analyses do not provide a general analytical description of investor reactions towards profit tax rate ...

Images and barriers on the road to real options valuation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Traditional methods for evaluating investment decisions, such as Net Present Value, don't properly account for the flexibility inherent in many investment projects. This has been recognized and the attempt to value the such flexibilities is known as Real

Liquid Crystalline Elastomers in Soft Robotics: Assessing Promise and Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Liquid crystalline elastomers (LCEs) are programmable soft materials that undergo large, anisotropic deformation in response to external stimuli. Their molecular alignment encodes directional actuation in a monolithic structure, making them long‐standing candidates for soft robotic systems.

Evaluation of road investment project effectiveness

open access: yes, 2010
Automobilių keliai Lietuvoje finansuojami tik iš surenkamų mokesčių, tačiau šie mokesčiai neužtikrina finansavimo, kuris reikalingas visų kelių būklei palaikyti ir gerinti. Lietuvos automobilių kelių direkcija prie Susisiekimo ministerijos gautą finansavimą iš Europos regioninės plėtros fondų skiria: krašto ir regioninių kelių dangoms stiprinti, eismo ...

Timing Mechanotransduction: Mechanically Dynamic Biomaterials Reveal the Temporal Hierarchy of YAP/TAZ Control Nodes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work develops dynamically softening polyacrylamide hydrogels for time‐resolved imaging during continuous mechanical transitions. The study revealed that mechanotransduction is biphasic; YAP/TAZ inactivation is driven by early loss of the nucleocytoskeletal continuum connecting subnuclear adhesions, F‐actin, and the nuclear envelope, coupled with ...
