Impact of partially filled pipes on hydraulic performance of canal-pipe water delivery systems

open access: yesGuan'gai paishui xuebao
【Objective】 Changes in water pressure in pipe networks can cause partial filling of pipes, leading to non-full flow. The objective of this paper is to investigate the impact of non-full flow on the hydraulic performance of canal-pipe water delivery ...

Host‐Directed Biomaterials for Combatting Bloodstream Infections: From Macrocyclic Peptides to Immune‐Activating Cell Backpacks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bloodstream infections (BSI) are one of the leading causes of mortality and morbidity in both civilian and military populations. This paper summarizes recent progress in novel treatment strategies to manage BSI arising from both bacterial and fungal pathogens using molecules, particles, and materials to elicit host‐directed immunity.

Investigation of the suspended solids removal from mine water by the rock accumulation effect in the underground reservoir of coal mines

open access: yesMeitan kexue jishu
The opening of an underground coal mine reservoir provides an effective technical approach to ensure the rational utilization of water resources during mining operations. This study focuses on the rock and mine water of the Daliuta Coal Mine reservoir in

A comparative study on the influence of Community Identity on Public Participation based on the theory of Planned Behavior: A case study of 52 old residential communities in Wuhan [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Community identity generates a sense of community belonging, which in turn influences public participation. Based on the conceptual model of the theory of planned behavior and three elements of community identity, the study constructs a structural ...

Bioinspired Bromination Enables Extensible, Strain‐Stiffening Resilin Peptide Scaffolds with Tunable Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bioinspired bromination of a resilin‐derived peptide enables the fabrication of electrospun nanofibrous scaffolds that uniquely combine strain‐stiffening elasticity, proteolytic stability, and antioxidant functionality. These brominated peptide–gelatin hybrids mimic the extensibility of natural elastomers, demonstrating tunable mechanical resilience ...

Trap‐Assisted Transport and Neuromorphic Plasticity in Lead‐Free 2D Perovskites PEA2SnI4

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An artificial retina built from lead‐free layered perovskite (PEA)2SnI4 converts light input into a persistent photocurrent and sums successive flashes over time. Micro/nanocrystals integrated on electrodes act as synapse‐like pixels that perform temporal integration directly in hardware. This in‐sensor preprocessing merges detection and computation on

Laser Engineering of HfN‐Based Nanoparticles for Safe NIR‐I Photothermal and X‐ray Enhancing Cancer Therapies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, we produced HfN‐based nanoparticles via femtosecond laser ablation in acetone. The nanoparticles exhibit a red‐shifted plasmonic resonance in the NIR‐I window, colloidal stability after coating with polyethyleneglycol, and excellent biocompatibility. The photothermal and X‐ray sensitization therapeutic effects were demonstrated for tumor

Shape‐Changing Multiphase Microparticles from Complex Liquid Crystal Emulsions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid crystalline network (LCN) microparticles are prepared from single, double (Janus), and triple emulsions through a simple and scalable bulk‐emulsification strategy. Under heating, the particles exhibit robust, reversible, large‐amplitude deformations that depend both on the morphology and the liquid crystals director field configuration.
