Wavelet application research on tooth surface of spherical involute spiral bevel gear [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Brazilian Society of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering, 2018
In order to improve the machining accuracy of spiral bevel gears, a scheme based on the cubic B-spline wavelet was proposed. Based on the principle of spherical involute formation, a program was made in MATLAB to obtain the coordinate data of discrete points of the tooth surface.

Efficient Harvesting of Irregular and Low‐Frequency Mechanical Energy via Hybridized Electromagnetic‐Triboelectric Systems

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The rapid expansion of the Internet of Things (IoT) and wearable electronics necessitates sustainable power sources to replace the limited electrochemical battery. While mechanical energy harvesting offers a promising solution, traditional harvesters face challenges of irregular and low−frequency environmental sources. This review presents the

Design of Gearings from Involute-Bevel Gears

open access: yesVestnik IzhGTU imeni M.T. Kalashnikova
The article presents formulas for determining the dimensions of involute-bevel gears and the gearings composed of them. It examines the most general cases of gearings formation, consisting of two involute-bevel gears with crossing axes (hyperboloid gearings), with intersecting axes (bevel gearings), and with parallel axes (cylindrical gearings ...

Policy Spandrels: How Design Decisions Can Open Up Spaces for Unintended Policy Change

open access: yesEuropean Policy Analysis, Volume 12, Issue 2, Spring 2026.
ABSTRACT This article introduces the concept of policy spandrels to make sense of public policies producing second‐order effects that are unintentional from the perspective of policy design and yet are fraught with consequences. By analogy with architectural spandrels—leftover spaces that can be used for unforeseen purposes—policy change can be enabled

Hydraulic In Vitro Characterization of MR‐Conditional Blood Pumps

open access: yesArtificial Organs, Volume 50, Issue 3, Page 393-403, March 2026.
Cardiac surgery in neonates requires close placement of cardiopulmonary bypass machines due to limited blood volume, complicating MR compatibility. This study introduces three MR‐conditional blood pump prototypes. None interfered with MRI imaging, though RF‐related sensor effects remain untested.

Development of a geometrical model of spherical involute for bevel gears

open access: yes, 2022
Zobni boki stožčastih zobniških gonil, ki temeljijo na sferični evolventi, zagotavljajo idealno ubiranje – ohranjajo konstantno razmerje vrtilnih hitrosti.

Growth of Subsurface Fatigue Fractures in Large‐Size Bevel Gears

open access: yesFatigue &Fracture of Engineering Materials &Structures, Volume 49, Issue 2, Page 640-652, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Large‐size bevel gears are commonly used in marine industry for the applications of propulsion, such as azimuth thrusters. The gears are typically designed for specific use, as they are directly transferring power from one component to another.

Robotic Interventional Needle Insertion Assisted by a Cable‐Driven Parallel Robot

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 8, Issue 1, January 2026.
This article presents a body‐mounted cable‐driven parallel robot assisting the needle insertion procedure designated for automated interventional pain therapy. The 3D‐printed robot body and multiple thin cables can achieve high X‐ray compatibility for intervention. The robot performs full 6‐degree of freedom needle insertion and remote center of motion

Custom Shape Formation in Continuum Robots Using Compliant Bistable Segments for Medical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 8, Issue 1, January 2026.
This article describes the integration of compliant bi‐stability in continuum robots. This integration leads to two variants of compliant bistable mechanism (CBM) integrated continuum robot segments, extending and locking. Results show that when used together, these CBM‐integrated segments allow the continuum robot to form custom shapes.

THE LOGARITHMIC SPIRAL AND ITS SPHERICAL COUNTERPART

open access: yesJournal of Industrial Design and Engineering Graphics, 2020
Logarithmic spirals are isogonal trajectories of pencils of lines. From a series of geometric consequences, we pick out a few which are relevant for kinematics: When a logarithmic spiral rolls on a line, its asymptotic point traces a straight line. Hence,
