Lexicographic Shellability of Partial Involutions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
In this manuscript we study inclusion posets of Borel orbit closures on (symmetric) matrices. In particular, we show that the Bruhat poset of partial involutions is a lexicographiically shellable poset. Also, studying the embeddings of symmetric groups and involutions into rooks and partial involutions, respectively, we find new $EL$-labelings on ...

Finitely generated algebras with involution and their identities [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
Associative algebras with involution over a field of zero characteristic are considered. It is proved that in this case for any finitely generated associative algebra with involution there exists a finite dimensional algebra with involution which satisfies exactly the same identities with involution.

On characteristic classes of singular hypersurfaces and involutive symmetries of the Chow group [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
For any algebraic scheme $X$ and every $(n,\mathscr{L})\in \mathbb{Z}\times \text{Pic}(X)$ we define an associated involution of its Chow group $A_*X$, and show that certain characteristic classes of (possibly singular) hypersurfaces in a smooth variety are interchanged via these involutions.

An Involution on Involutions and a Generalization of Layered Permutations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
Taking transposes of Standard Young Tableaux defines a natural involution on the set $I(n)$ of involutions of length $n$ via the the Robinson-Schensted correspondence. In some cases, this involution can be defined without resorting to the Robinson-Schensted correspondence. As a byproduct, we get an interesting generalization of layered permutations.

The Embedding Problem in Algebras with Involution [PDF]

open access: yes
Let $K$ be an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero, and let $A$ and $B$ be two simple algebras with involution over $K$. In this note we study the embedding problem for algebras with involution. More specifically, if the algebra $A$ satisfies the polynomial identities with involution of the algebra $B$, we investigate whether there exists ...

Triangular involutions of the four-dimensional polynomial ring in characteristic two [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We are concerned with polynomial involutions in characteristic two. In this note, we look for involutions among triangular automorphisms of the four-dimensional polynomial ring in characteristic two and obtain three types of such involutions.

Involutions of spherical 3-manifolds [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We classify involutions acting on spherical 3-manifolds up to conjugacy. Our geometric approach provides insights into numerous topological properties of these involutions.
