Synthesis of β-arylated alkylamides via Pd-catalyzed one-pot installation of a directing group and C(sp3)–H arylation

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2016
The synthesis of β-arylated alkylamides via alkyl C–H bond arylation has been realized by means of direct one-pot reactions of acyl chlorides, aryl iodides and 8-aminoquinoline. Depending on the structure of the starting materials, both single and double

Living Liquid Metal Composites Embedded with Electrogenic Endospores for Next‐Generation Bioelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A new class of living liquid metal composites is introduced, embedding Bacillus subtilis endospores into eutectic gallium–indium (EGaIn). The spores enhance droplet coalescence, strengthen interfacial conductivity, and provide on‐demand electrogenic functionality after germination. The composites exhibit high conductivity, self‐healing, patternability,

MPI‐Guided Photothermal Therapy of Prostate Cancer Using Stem Cell Delivery of Magnetotheranostic Nanoflowers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Tumor‐tropic human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) were used as delivery vehicles for magnetotheranostic gold–iron oxide nanoflowers. Magnetic particle imaging of the iron component demonstrated widespread intratumoral distribution and sustained retention in contrast to injection of naked nanoflowers.

Efficient NiOx Hole Transport Layers Enabled by Multifunctional MXenes for High‐Performance Tin‐Lead Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An efficient NiOx HTL is successfully prepared by introducing MXene as an additive without further surface modification to fabricate high‐performance FASn0.5Pb0.5I3 perovskite solar cells. The introduction of MXene contributes to improved conductivity of NiOx, better aligned at NiOx/perovskite interfaces, and enhanced quality of perovskite films ...

Bio‐Orthogonally Crosslinked Supramolecular Polymer Bottlebrush Hydrogels for Long‐Term 3D Cell Culture

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Fibrous benzenetrispeptide (BTP) hydrogels, fabricated via strain‐promoted azide‐alkyne cycloaddition (SPAAC) crosslinking, form robust, bioinert networks. These hydrogels can support 3D cell culture, where cell viability and colony growth depend on the fiber content.

XeCl laser pumped iodine laser using t-C4F9I [PDF]

open access: yes
An iodine photodissociation laser using t-C4F9I as the active material was pumped by an XeCl laser. An iodine laser output energy of 3 mJ with pulse duration of 25 ns was obtained when the pumping pulse energy was 80 mJ, the iodide pressure was 70 torr ...

Broadband, Flexible, Skin‐Compatible Carbon Dots/Graphene Photodetectors for Wearable Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Broadband, flexible photodetectors integrating nitrogen‐rich carbon dots with single‐layer graphene on plastic substrates are demonstrated. A biocompatible chitosan–glycerol electrolyte enables efficient low‐voltage gating and on‐skin operation. The devices exhibit ultraviolet‐to‐near‐infrared response, mechanical robustness under bending, and verified
