Assessment of DNA double-strand breaks induced by intravascular iodinated contrast media following in vitro irradiation and in vivo, during paediatric cardiac catheterization [PDF]
Paediatric cardiac catheterizations may result in the administration of substantial amounts of iodinated contrast media and ionizing radiation. The aim of this work was to investigate the effect of iodinated contrast media in combination with in vitro ...

Recurrent neck swelling after iodinated contrast media administration
A 74-year-old male with an abdominal aortic aneurism reported 2 episodes of neck swelling 16 hours after an abdominal CT with iodinated contrast media that reappeared in a subsequent CT, although the use of pre-medication.

Dialysis and iodinated contrast media [PDF]
Contrast media are excreted mainly by glomerular filtration. There is thus, a significant correlation between both body and renal clearances of contrast media and glomerular filtration rate, and their renal excretion will be delayed in patients with renal insufficiency. Contrast media can be efficiently removed from blood by hemodialysis (HD).

Minimizing the Renal Toxicity of Iodinated Contrast [PDF]
A substantial proportion of adults with coronary disease are at risk for contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI), manifested primarily by underlying chronic kidney disease, defined as an estimated glomerular filtration rate

Faster magnetic resonance imaging in emergency room patients with right lower quadrant pain and suspected acute appendicitis [PDF]
Purpose: Emergency Departments (ED) are becoming busier, with a resultant increase in the number of imaging referrals. The purpose of this study was to assess the diagnostic accuracy of an abbreviated two sequence magnetic resonance (MR) protocol for ...
