Smartly Assembled near‐Micron RF‐Responsive Agents Bridge Transarterial Embolization and Immunothermal Potentiation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains a significant clinical challenge due to the limited efficacy of conventional treatments like surgery, radiofrequency ablation (RFA), and transarterial embolization (TAE). Here, we develop an innovative TAE and immunothermal therapy strategy based on smartly assembled near‐micron layered double hydroxide ...

Injection of carbon dioxide instead of iodinated contrast to display the common bile duct during endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography

open access: yesJournal of Minimal Access Surgery
Common bile duct (CBD) stones are usually caused by biliary tract infection, biliary stricture, duodenal peripapillary diverticulum, Oddis sphincter dysfunction, and so on. Treatment is preferably with endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)

Soft and Adhesive Cardiac Patch for Electrophysiological and Contraction Measurement

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study developed an epicardial electronic patch with a modulus similar to that of the heart (approximately 65kPa), which can collect stable electrocardiogram signals and myocardial contractility on the surface of a dynamically beating heart. This is attributed to the hydrogen bond interaction formed between the amino and catechol groups in the ...

Double Jeopardy : Acute myocardial infarction complicated by cardiogenic shock and contrast mediated anaphylactoid reaction

open access: yesSouthwest Respiratory and Critical Care Chronicles, 2013
A 63 year-old woman who developed a severe anaphylactoidreaction to iodinated contrast in the setting of emergent percutaneous intervention(PCI) for a large anterior wall ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) resulting incardiogenic shock followed ...

Bidirectional Photoswitching of a Tailored Azobenzene with Red and Far‐Red Light Involving Triplet Sensitization in an Aqueous System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The action spectrum of a tailored azobenzene is shifted toward bio‐optical window through the chemical modification of its singlet and triplet energy levels. Consequently, the bidirectional photo‐switching of azobenzene in physiological conditions is achieved when excited by red and far‐red light, which offers greater tissue penetration.

Sono‐Mechanogenetics: Linking Ultrasound Physics With Cellular Mechanobiology

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sono‐mechanogenetics links ultrasound physics with cellular mechanotransduction to enable noninvasive control of engineered biological systems. Acoustic forces generate distinct deformation modes that activate intracellular signaling pathways, which can be coupled to synthetic gene circuits to regulate diverse cellular functions, including gene ...
