Iodine treatment of iodine-induced thyrotoxicosis
Journal of Endocrinological Investigation, 1980A 62-year-old female who had received prolonged iodine therapy for asthma presented with severe thyrotoxicosis and severe asthma. Her history, elevated serum thyroxine and triiodothyronine, low 131I uptake, and elevated intrathyroidal iodine content by fluorescent scan were most consistent wiht a diagnosis of iodine-induced thyrotoxicosis (IITT).

Structure of Polyvinylpyrrolidone-Iodine (Povidone-Iodine)
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1979Hydrogen triiodide adducts were prepared from N,N-dimethylacetamide, N-alkylpyrrolidone derivatives, and polyvinylpyrrolidone, and their structures were investigated by IR spectra and X-ray structure analyses and compared with the structure of povidone-iodine USP.

Activation Analysis of Paper Chromatograms for Iodine (Iodine-127→Iodine-128)
Nature, 1963Procedures for the activation analysis of paper chromatograms for the I/ sup 127/ and up to st r I/sup 128/ reaction are discussed. Sodium24 radioactivity induced in the paper was eliminated by distillation. (C.H.)

Hypervalent Iodine Mediated Chemoselective Iodination of Alkynes
The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2017Reported herein are practical approaches for the chemoselective mono-, di-, and tri-iodination of alkynes based on efficient oxidative iodinations catalyzed by hypervalent iodine reagents. The reaction conditions were systematically optimized by altering the iodine source and/or the hypervalent iodine reagent system. The tetrabutylammonium iodide (TBAI)

Aqueous Iodine Equilibria in Mammalian Iodination Reactions
Thyroid, 2007Regulatory activity has been demonstrated in two classes of iodinated organic species: thyroid hormones (T(3) and T(4)) and iodinated lipids (ILs), e.g. 6-iodo-5-hydroxy-8,11,14-eicosatrienoic acid. The formation of iodinated biomolecules requires iodide oxidation.

Hair iodine for human iodine status assessment.
Thyroid : official journal of the American Thyroid Association, 2013Today, human iodine deficiency is, after iron, the most common nutritional deficiency in developed European and underdeveloped third world countries. A current biological indicator of iodine status is urinary iodine, which reflects very recent iodine exposure; a long-term indicator of iodine status remains to be identified. We analyzed hair iodine in a ...
