Iodine redox chemistry in rechargeable batteries.

Angewandte Chemie, 2020
In contrast with the classic ion intercalation, halogens have been coupled with metal anodes in a single cell to develop novel rechargeable batteries on the basis of the extrinsic redox reactions.

Iodine treatment of iodine-induced thyrotoxicosis

Journal of Endocrinological Investigation, 1980
A 62-year-old female who had received prolonged iodine therapy for asthma presented with severe thyrotoxicosis and severe asthma. Her history, elevated serum thyroxine and triiodothyronine, low 131I uptake, and elevated intrathyroidal iodine content by fluorescent scan were most consistent wiht a diagnosis of iodine-induced thyrotoxicosis (IITT).

Oxidative iodine monochloride iodination technique

Journal of Immunological Methods, 1980
The iodine monochloride (IC1) technique is used to radiolabel proteins under mild experimental conditions. Proteins labeled by this technique have been shown to have both in vitro in vivo characteristics often superior to those proteins labeled by the more frequently used chloramine-T method.

IODINE AND IODINE ACNE

JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1935
To the Editor:— In a case report on the treatment of chronic vaginitis with phenylmercuric nitrate (The Journal, January 19, p. 212), the patient described by Dr. Frederick W. Hitchings developed an indurated pustular acne of the face and neck after treatment was instituted for the vaginitis.

IODINE IN NUTRITION

Journal of the American Medical Association, 1943
In the struggle for survival in this world conflict, in which both physical and emotional demands on the body's resources are rapidly mounting, the problems of nutrition assume an even greater significance. And thus iodine, a nutritional necessity, essential in the normal regulation of the energy output of the human body, comes to take its place in any

Iodine Repletion After Iodine Deficiency1

The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1963
Reports from this laboratory have described studies over a period of 2 years with a nongoitrous, euthyroid, iodine-deficient population exhibiting elevated serum proteinbound iodine (PBI) values with normal serum butanol-extractable (BEI) values. The suggestion was made that the PBI elevation might be related to release of nonmetabolically active ...
