New adventures of the median urinary iodine
From the beginning of the 1990s until the end of the 2000s, Russian thyroidology developed under the auspice ofmedian ioduria. The emergence of available techniques, such as urinary iodine analysis and the estimation ofthyroid volume by ultrasonography ...

Deriving Iodine-free spectra for high-resolution echelle spectrographs [PDF]
We describe a new method to derive clean, iodine-free spectra directly from observations acquired using high-resolution echelle spectrographs equipped with iodine cells. The main motivation to obtain iodine-free spectra is to use portions of the spectrum that are superimposed with the dense forest of iodine absorption lines, in order to retrieve lines ...

Raman spectroscopy of iodine-doped double-walled carbon nanotubes [PDF]
We present a Raman spectroscopy study of iodine-intercalated (p-type-doped) double-walled carbon nanotubes. Double-walled carbon nanotubes (DWCNTs) are synthesized by catalytic chemical vapor deposition and characterized by Raman spectroscopy. The assignment of the radial breathing modes and the tangential modes of pristine DWCNTs is done in the ...

Iodine Speciation, Transportation, and Transformation in Soils: A Critical Review
BACKGROUND Identifying the occurrence form of iodine in soil and the law of iodine migration and transformation in soil is of great significance for evaluating the biogeochemical behavior of iodine and preventing human iodine deficiency diseases ...

A compact iodine-laser operating at 531 nm with stability at the 10$^{-12}$ level and using a coin-sized laser module [PDF]
We demonstrate a compact iodine-stabilized laser operating at 531 nm using a coin-sized light source consisting of a 1062-nm distributed-feedback diode laser and a frequency-doubling element. A hyperfine transition of molecular iodine is observed using the light source with saturated absorption spectroscopy.

Never have been and here again…
The discussion in this column is not about legislation but about issues that are closer to the readership. What products mainly provide for the need of the human body in iodine in Russia and other (near and far) countries of the world?
