The use of iodine in 20% oleum for the iodination of a range of aromatic nitro-compounds is described. The conditions necessary to achieve reaction and proof of the identities of the products are included. The system has been found to behave as an electrophilic reagent but it will not introduce and iodine atom ortho to a nitro-group.

Synthetic applications of pseudocyclic hypervalent iodine compounds.
Organic and biomolecular chemistry, 2016Hypervalent iodine compounds have found wide practical application as versatile, efficient, and sustainable reagents for organic synthesis. Pseudocyclic hypervalent iodine derivatives are characterized by the presence of additional intramolecular non ...

New Promises from an Old Friend: Iodine-Rich Compounds as Prospective Energetic Biocidal Agents.
Accounts of Chemical Research, 2020ConspectusFor a very long time, frequent occurrences of biocrises have wreaked havoc on human beings, animals, and the environment. As a result, it is necessary to develop biocidal agents to destroy or neutralize active agents by releasing large amounts ...

When Diazo Compounds Meet Hypervalent Iodine(III) Reagents.
Angewandte Chemie, 2020The site-selective "cut and sew" transformations employing diazo compounds and hypervalent iodine(III) compounds involve the departure of leaving groups, a "cut" process, followed by reorganizing of fragments by bond connections, a "sew" process. Bearing
