Isotopic Evidence Unveils Fossil Fuels Contribution to Atmospheric Iodine

Environmental Science & Technology, 2023
Iodine is a crucial nutrient for public health, and its presence in the terrestrial atmosphere is a key factor in determining the prevalence of iodine deficiency disorders. While oceanic iodine emissions decrease at lower sea surface temperatures, the primary contributors to atmospheric iodine can vary from oceanic sources in the summer to other ...

Isotopic exchange between methyl iodide and iodine

Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR Division of Chemical Science, 1959
1. We have developed a method for the separation of I2 from CH3I based on the adsorption of iodine vapor on silver. 2. In the 30–45° temperature range the isotopic exchange between CH3l*and I2 proceeds on the walls of the reaction vessel. 3. Addition of oxygen has no effect on the rate of isotopic exchange.

Isotopic analysis of iodine by multiphoton ionization

Analytical Chemistry, 1982
Multiphoton ionization occurs when ionization follows the absorption of more than one photon by a molecule in the presence of an intense visible or UV light source. As the laser source is tuned to an allowed n-photon transition, the process is greatly enhanced. This is called resonance enhanced multiphoton ionization, REMPI.
