A new flow chip in combination with multiphoton microscopy as a protocol for longitudinal 3D imaging of tissue calcification under shear stress

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Miniaturized flow chip platform enabling continuous perfusion and longitudinal multiphoton 3D imaging of vascular smooth muscle cell constructs under physiological flow. Brightfield imaging guides region selection, while CellTracker Green and mRuby‐labeled fetuin‐A visualize cells and mineral deposition, respectively. Magnesium supplementation markedly

Characterization of duplex hard coatings with additional ion implantation

open access: yesMetalurgija, 2012
In this paper, we present the results of a study of TiN thin fi lms which are deposited by a Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) and Ion Beam Assisted Deposition (IBAD). In the present investigation the subsequent ion implantation was provided with N+2 ions.

Adenosine triphosphate as a modulator of protein interactions and stability

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ATP is best known as the cell's energy currency, but it also shapes how proteins fold, interact, aggregate and form biomolecular condensates. This review explains the emerging physical principles behind these effects, including weak binding to charged protein regions, magnesium‐dependent behaviour and concentration‐dependent control of protein ...

Protocol for quantifying miRNA trafficking across the endosomal membrane

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An in vitro protocol measures miRNA uptake into endosomes isolated from mammalian cell extracts, which are free of subcellular contaminants. Performed at 37 °C in the presence of ATP, it ensures the import of single‐stranded miRNA into the endosomal lumen.

APPLICATION OF 4He2+ AND 3He2+ BEAMS OF THE COMPACT ACCELERATOR “SOKOL” FOR ION BEAM ANALYSIS

open access: yesEast European Journal of Physics, 2015
Some planar structures have been studied by 4Не2+ ion beam and the backscattering spectrometry. Thicknesses of separate layers were determined in the optical coating consist of 13 alternated Ta2O5 and SiO2 layers on the SiO2 substrate.

Avidin is evolutionarily conserved in fish but dispensable for development and resistance against Streptococcus agalactiae in zebrafish

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The presence of biotin‐binding avidin proteins in fish and their biological significance are poorly characterized. We cataloged fish avidins and demonstrate that they are widely present and evolutionarily conserved. We created avd knockout zebrafish and show that zebavidin is dispensable for development and that resistance of avd knockout embryos in ...

GelMA‐based 3D spheroids recapitulate transcriptomic and functional hallmarks of myeloid sarcoma

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
GelMA 5% hydrogels support the formation of myeloid leukemia spheroids that recapitulate MS‐specific features, including G1 arrest, apoptosis, and ECM‐driven transcriptomic reprogramming. The 3D model mimicked soft‐tissue‐like stiffness and oxygen conditions, and transcriptomic convergence with primary MS samples confirmed its utility as a preclinical ...

Structural and biochemical insights into the thermostable esterase Ta0887 from Thermoplasma acidophilum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, a novel esterase from the thermoacidophilic archaeon Thermoplasma acidophilum was biochemically and structurally characterized. Our results demonstrate that Ta0887 is a highly thermostable esterase that preferentially hydrolyzes p‐nitrophenyl hexanoate and possesses an α‐helical cap domain that likely contributes to its substrate ...

A minimal cellulosome‐like system in Cellulosilyticum lentocellum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cellulose‐degrading bacteria typically use cellulosomes, large multi‐enzyme complexes on a scaffold protein. In Cellulosilyticum lentocellum, we characterise a far smaller arrangement, a single scaffold bound to one cellulase through a single cohesin‐dockerin interaction.

Nano‐Zinc Sulfide Modified 3D Reconstructed Zinc Anode with Induced Deposition Effect Assists Long‐Cycle Stable Aqueous Zinc Ion Battery

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Aqueous zinc ion batteries are often adversely affected by the poor stability of zinc metal anodes. Persistent water‐induced side reactions and uncontrolled dendrite growth have seriously damaged the long‐term service life of aqueous zinc ion batteries ...
