Abstract Red blood cells (RBCs) play a critical role in oxygen and carbon dioxide transport, which is facilitated by RBC‐encapsulated hemoglobin (Hb) and carbonic anhydrase (CA). In addition, RBCs are constantly exposed to oxidative stress due to the intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated during Hb auto‐oxidation.

Dynamic pH profiles drive higher cell‐specific and volumetric productivity
Implementation of dyamic pH profiles for increased CHO cell culture productivity. Abstract Mammalian cell cultures in bioreactors rely heavily on critical process parameter control to ensure optimal growth, productivity, and reproducibility to produce recombinant therapeutic proteins. Culture pH has been shown to be a critical parameter that influences

Abstract Scaled production of cultivated meat (CM) will co‐produce large volumes of spent media. Recycling of abundant metabolites such as lactic acid in spent media offers an opportunity for valorization and reduction of the carbon footprint of CM production; however, the feasibility has yet to be examined.

Antifouling Ion-Exchange Resins
ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, 2018Large quantities of organic ion-exchange resins are used worldwide for water decontamination and polishing. Fouling by microorganisms and decomposition products of natural organic matter severely limits the lifetime of these resins. Much research has thus been invested in polymer-based antifouling coatings. In the present study, poly(4-styrenesulfonate)
