Limits to ion energy control in high density glow discharges: Measurement of absolute metastable ion concentrations [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Unprecedented demands for uniformity, throughput, anisotropy, and damage control in submicron pattern transfer are spurring development of new, low pressure, high charge density plasma reactors.

Negative Ion Density Fronts

open access: yes, 2000
Negative ions tend to stratify in electronegative plasmas with hot electrons (electron temperature Te much larger than ion temperature Ti, Te > Ti ). The boundary separating a plasma containing negative ions, and a plasma, without negative ions, is usually thin, so that the negative ion density falls rapidly to zero-forming a negative ion density front.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Impedance resonance in narrow confinement

open access: yes, 2018
The article explores the ion flux response of a capacitor configuration to an alternating voltage. The model system comprises a symmetric binary electrolyte confined between plan-parallel capacitor plates. The AC response is investigated for the sparsely

Viscous interfacial layer formation causes electroosmotic mobility reversal in monovalent electrolytes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We study the ion density, shear viscosity and electroosmotic mobility of an aqueous monovalent electrolyte at a charged solid surface using molecular dynamics simulations.

Thrust density characteristics of ion thruster

open access: yesActa Physica Sinica, 2018
Thrust density distribution of ion thruster is an important factor that affects the orbit correction and station keeping of the spacecraft. Current empirical models mainly concern themselves with the overall thrust of the ion thruster, yet the thrust density distribution has not been fully understood.

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

Gas inlet impact on neutral density and recycle pattern with a disk shaped antenna in a miniature ion thruster through particle simulation

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2021
The gas inlet configuration has a direct impact on the neutral density pattern within a miniature ion thruster. We aimed to investigate the impact the gas inlet configuration and neutral density pattern will have on the neutral recycle rate within a ...

Understanding the core density profile in TCV H-mode plasmas

open access: yes, 2012
Results from a database analysis of H-mode electron density profiles on the Tokamak \`a Configuration Variable (TCV) in stationary conditions show that the logarithmic electron density gradient increases with collisionality.
