Ion‐Exchange Chromatography

Current Protocols in Protein Science, 1998
AbstractThis unit outlines the basic steps in planning and carrying out ion‐exchange chromatography to separate proteins. Protocols describe both batch adsorption and column chromatography in conjunction with either step‐ or linear elution gradients. Support protocols describe (1) pilot experiments to determine initial conditions for batch or column ...

Ion-exchange chromatography

Analytical Chemistry, 1964
Ion-exchange chromatography is a versatile method of separation and concentration which is applicable to many kinds of analysis, inorganic, organic, and biochemical. The experimental technique is simple and in most cases fairly rapid. In the great majority of inorganic applications, all that is needed is a tube about 25 cm long and 1 cm i.d ...

ION EXCHANGE RESINS

Annals of Internal Medicine, 1951
Excerpt The recent introduction into clinical medicine of a group of substances known as ion exchange resins has provided the physician with a new type of diagnostic and therapeutic tool.

Ion-exchange chromatography

Analytica Chimica Acta, 1967
Abstract A review is given of variables which affect the separation factors in ion-exchange chromatography. In favorable cases the influence of complex formation, pH, and eluant concentration can be predicted by simple calculations, whereas the interaction forces inside the resin phase are still largely unexplored.

Ion exchange capacity

Microporous and Mesoporous Materials, 1998
Publisher Summary This chapter explains the ion exchange capacity in zeolites. In a traditional aluminosilicate zeolite the source of the ion exchange capacity is the extent of isomorphous substitution of Al for Si in the tetrahedral framework. The theoretical exchange capacity thus can be derived from the elemental composition.

Ion-Exchange Selectivities of Inorganic Ion Exchangers

2021
The most important groups of inorganic ion exchangers are clays, zeolites, hydrous oxides, insoluble acid salts, heteropolyacids, and hexacyanoferrates. Some of these inorganic ion exchangers exhibit especially high selectivities for certain elements or groups of elements.

Ion-Exchange Membranes

1992
The properties and preparation procedures of ion-exchange membranes are closely related to those of ion-exchange resins. As with resins, many types of membranes are possible with different polymer matrixes and different functional groups to confer ion-exchange properties on the product.
