Ion Irradiation on Phase Change Materials

MRS Proceedings, 2011
ABSTRACTIon irradiation with 130 keV Ge+ or 120 keV Sb+ has modified, by thermal spike effect, the local atomic arrangement in the structure of as-deposited sputtered amorphous GeTe and Ge2Sb2Te5 thin films. The changes in the local order have been analyzed by Raman and EXAFS spectroscopy.

Vibrational spectroscopy of ion-irradiated pentacene

Infrared Physics & Technology, 1994
Abstract In this paper we present a study of the evolution of the IR and Raman spectrum of pentacene before, during and after irradiation with energetic ion beams, demonstrating the complex chemistry induced by incoming ions. The formation of a “new” aromatic network has been evidenced. Dehydrogenation occurs and the evolution towards what we call an

Vibrational spectroscopy of ion-irradiated ices

Spectrochimica Acta Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy, 2001
In the last 20 years we have studied some effects induced by fast ions (E approximately keV-MeV) impinging on solid materials (mainly ices) with a view to their astrophysical relevance. The main techniques used have been infrared and Raman spectroscopy.

Irradiation response of Nd2Zr2O7 under heavy ions irradiation

Journal of the European Ceramic Society, 2018
Abstract This paper studied the irradiation behavior of Nd2Zr2O7 ceramics under 2.0 MeV Xe20+ irradiation to high fluences from 4.08 × 1013 ions/cm2 to 5.28 × 1016 ions/cm2. Phase transformation, from pyrochlore to fluorite and finally to amorphization, have been discovered.

Ion-chain interaction in keV ion-beam-irradiated polystyrene

Applied Physics Letters, 1987
Molecular weight distribution has been measured in monodisperse polystyrene film (MW=9 000 amu) after ion bombardment, in the ion fluence range 1011–1013 ions/cm2. The chosen beams are 100 keV He, 200 keV Ne, and 400 keV Ar. The experimental data have been interpreted in terms of a simple statistical model for cross-links.

Ion Irradiation of Preceramic Polymer Thin Films

Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 1996
Thin films of two preceramic polymers, namely polycarbosilane (PCS) and a silicone resin (SR350), were deposited on Si substrates. Instead of employing conventional annealing at high temperatures in an inert atmosphere, ion irradiation was used to achieve the polymer‐to‐ceramic conversion.

Irradiation Effects in Ices by Energetic Ions

1989
It has been shown that the irradiation of ices leads to “giant” erosion yields, in some specific conditions (1,2). In order to understand the physical processes involved, we have performed direct in-situ measurements of the erosion during irradiation, by means of infrared spectrometry of the ices.

Online monitor of heavy ion flux in an ion irradiation apparatus for semiconductor irradiation test

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2008
Abstract An online monitor of heavy ion flux for semiconductor irradiation test was developed and tested. The monitor consists of four annular-shaped segmented secondary electron emission monitors (S-SEMs) arranged in a quadrature around the central area of a beam line.

Xenon Ion Irradiation of α-Fe

Physica Status Solidi (a), 1983
The dislocation loop damage structures generated by low dose (≦ 5 × 1016 ions m−2) 80 keV Xe++ ion irradiations of α-Fe at room temperature and 77 K are studied by transmission electron microscopy, b = a/2〈111〉 loops are observed for each irradiation condition whereas b = a〈100〉 loops are not observed after irradiation at 77 K and are only observed at ...
