Low Toxic Ionic Liquids, Liquid Catanionics, and Ionic Liquid Microemulsions

open access: yesJournal of Dispersion Science and Technology, 2011
In the future the demand of sustainable and low toxic surfactants and solvents will constantly increase. In this article, we present some new approaches to meet these requirements. Whereas ionic liquids are often based on imidazolium ions, we will show that there are also much less toxic ones, especially with choline as cation.

Coarse-grained simulations of ionic liquid materials: from monomeric ionic liquids to ionic liquid crystals and polymeric ionic liquids

Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2021
A novel coarse-grained model for ethyl-imidazolium tetrafluoroborate ionic liquids were developed to study thermotropic phase behaviors of monomeric ionic liquids and to explore ion association structures and ion transport quantities in polymeric ionic liquids with different architectures.

Ionic liquid-in-ionic liquid nanoemulsions

Chemical Communications, 2012
A new type of nanoemulsion formed by two immiscible ionic liquids was prepared for the first time. This novel kind of emulsion involves no volatile organic solvent. Metal-organic framework nanorods with large mesopores were synthesized in the nanoemulsion.

Ion Dissociation in Ionic Liquids and Ionic Liquid Solutions

Chemical Reviews, 2020
The extent to which cations and anions in ionic liquids (ILs) and ionic liquid solutions are dissociated is of both fundamental scientific interest and practical importance because ion dissociation has been shown to impact viscosity, density, surface tension, volatility, solubility, chemical reactivity, and many other important chemical and physical ...
