The solvation and redox behavior of mixed ligand copper(II) complexes of acetylacetonate and aromatic diimines in ionic liquids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The behavior of two cationic copper complexes of acetylacetonate and 2,2'-bipyridine or 1,10-phenanthroline, [Cu(acac)(bipy)]Cl (1) and [Cu(acac)(phen)]Cl (2), in organic solvents and ionic liquids, was studied by spectroscopic and electrochemical ...

Rice Husk Lignin to Vanillin: IonoSolv as a Way Forward for Value-Added Biomass Depolymerization

open access: yesBioResources, 2023
The depolymerization of natural biomass-based lignin is a definitive challenge, as it involves the integral breakdown of complex and well-constructed natural structures. A sustainable method called ‘ionoSolv pretreatment’ employs ionic liquids in biomass

Sugar-Derived Ionic Liquids

open access: yesCHIMIA, 2011
Ionic liquids (ILs) are special molten salts with melting points below 100 °C that are typically constituted of organic cations (imidazolium, pyridinium, sulfonium, phosphonium, etc.) and inorganic anions. Due to their ionic nature, they are endowed with high chemical and thermal stability, good solvent properties, and non-measurable vapor ...

Facile Construction of Hierarchical TiNb2O7/rGO Nanoflower With Robust Charge Storage Properties for Li Ion Batteries via an Esterification Reaction

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research, 2021
TiNb2O7 (TNO) compound has been pursued tremendously due to its high theoretical capacity, high potential, and excellent cycle stability. Unfortunately, an intrinsic low electronic and ionic conductivity feature has restricted its broad applications in ...

Accelerating charging dynamics in sub-nanometer pores [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Having smaller energy density than batteries, supercapacitors have exceptional power density and cyclability. Their energy density can be increased using ionic liquids and electrodes with sub-nanometer pores, but this tends to reduce their power density ...

Carbon hollow fiber membranes for a molecular sieve with precise-cutoff ultramicropores for superior hydrogen separation

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
Energy-efficient hydrogen purification technologies are needed for the hydrogen economy. Here the authors report facile and scalable fabrication of asymmetric carbon molecular sieve membranes for the separation of hydrogen and carbon dioxide.

A Study of the Conformers of the (Nonafluorobutanesulfonyl)imide Ion by Means of Infrared Spectroscopy and Density Functional Theory (DFT) Calculations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Pyrrolidinium-based ionic liquids with anions of the per(fluoroalkylsulfonyl)imide family are particularly interesting for their use as electrolytes in lithium batteries.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Characterization of 1,8-diazabicyclo(5.4.0)undec-7-ene-hydroxyl-based ionic liquid for CO2 capture

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science
Six 1,8-diazabicyclo(5.4.0)undec-7-ene-based ionic liquids (ILs) linked with ethyl or propyl hydroxyl cations, coupled with thiocyanate, dicyanamide and bistriflimide anions, were synthesized through a two-step reaction: quaternization and ion exchange ...
