Ionic Liquids Synthesis – Methodologies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Ionic Liquids (IL) are salts with at least one organic cation. The term “Ionic Liquid” has been restricted to salts with melting point below 100° C [1]. In the recent years, (ILs) have gained popularity in science and technology.

Studies on the Prediction and Extraction of Methanol and Dimethyl Carbonate by Hydroxyl Ammonium Ionic Liquids

open access: yesMolecules, 2023
The separation of dimethyl carbonate (DMC) and methanol is of great significance in industry. In this study, ionic liquids (ILs) were employed as extractants for the efficient separation of methanol from DMC.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Characterization of 1,8-diazabicyclo(5.4.0)undec-7-ene-hydroxyl-based ionic liquid for CO2 capture

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science
Six 1,8-diazabicyclo(5.4.0)undec-7-ene-based ionic liquids (ILs) linked with ethyl or propyl hydroxyl cations, coupled with thiocyanate, dicyanamide and bistriflimide anions, were synthesized through a two-step reaction: quaternization and ion exchange ...

Electrospun nanosized cellulose fibers using ionic liquids at room temperature

open access: yes, 2011
Aiming at replacing the noxious solvents commonly employed, ionic-liquid-based solvents have been recently explored as novel non-volatile and non-flammable media for the electrospinning of polymers.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
