Unstable Leader Inception Criteria of Atmospheric Discharges
In the literature, there are different criteria to represent the formation of a leader channel in short and long gap discharges. Due to the complexity of the physics of the heating phenomena, and the limitations of the computational resources, a ...

Measurement of CT radiation beam width with a pencil ionization chamber and radiopaque mask
Abstract Purpose This study compares fan beam CT scanner radiation beam widths measured with a pencil ionization chamber‐radiopaque mask technique with commonly used film and computed radiography (CR) measurements. Methods For a given fan beam CT scanner x‐ray beam, the ionization chamber‐mask technique determines the radiation beam width by exposing a

Abstract Background The dose‐averaged linear energy transfer (LETD) in proton therapy (PT) has in pre‐clinical studies been linked to the relative biological effectiveness (RBE) of protons. Until recently, the most common PT delivery method in prostate cancer has been double‐scattered PT, with LETD only available through dedicated Monte Carlo (MC ...

Commissioning a standalone adaptive radiotherapy linac in a multi‐vendor environment
Abstract Current radiotherapy machines intended to perform streamlined online adaptive therapy are designed to be standalone, which makes it challenging to integrate them with the rest of the clinic. This work describes the installation of a standalone CT‐guided online adaptive system, the Varian Ethos, in a busy clinic utilizing products from multiple

Abstract The thermoluminescence dosimeter (TLD) sheet is a measurement device coated with manganese‐doped LiB3O5 in sheet form. The sheet is 0.2‐mm thick and flexible. Hence, it can fit and be installed on irregular surfaces. The current study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of measuring patient surface doses during radiation therapy using TLD sheets.
