Triboelectric spray ionization

Journal of Mass Spectrometry, 2013
Triboelectric spray ionization (TESI) is a variation of electrospray ionization (ESI) using common instrumental components, including gas flow, solvent flow rate and heat, the only difference being the use of a high‐voltage power supply for ESI or a static charge for TESI.

Kelvin spray ionization

The Analyst, 2013
A novel self-powered dual spray ionization source has been developed for applications in mass spectrometry. This new source does not use any power supply and produces both positive and negative ions simultaneously. The idea behind this ionization source comes from the Kelvin water dropper.

Deuterium effect on ionization and fragmentation patterns of monosaccharides ionized by atmospheric pressure chemical ionization

Carbohydrate Research, 2010
Glucose, galactose, and mannose in H(2)O and D(2)O were ionized by an atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) method. Isotope effects on fragmentation patterns of the monosaccharides were examined by deuterium replacement of the -OH groups to distinguish the isomers with a single mass spectrometer. The most abundant ions were the [M+H(2)O](+)()

Ionization of Rydberg atoms

Physical Review A, 1986
Ion formation in sodium vapor (\ensuremath{\sim}${10}^{11}$ ${\mathrm{cm}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}3}$) containing Rydberg atoms (18\ensuremath{\le}n\ensuremath{\le}35) was investigated. Both atomic ions and diatomic molecular ions resulting from collisions between highly excited sodium, ${\mathrm{Na}}^{\mathrm{*}\mathrm{*}}$, and Na(3s) were observed.

Ionization of tocopherols and tocotrienols in atmospheric pressure chemical ionization

Rapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, 2018
RationaleTocopherols and tocotrienols are chemical compounds insusceptible to the ionization process under atmospheric pressure conditions. Therefore, the selection of the optimal ion source settings for their quantification requires special attention.

Leukemia and Ionizing Radiation

Science, 1957
Leukemia in man can be induced by ionizing radiations and also occurs spontaneously. For the "average" individual in a population, the probability of developing radiation-induced leukemia is estimated to be 2 × 10 –6 per rad (unit of absorbed dose of radiation) per year.
