Ionizing Radiation Carcinogenesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Human exposure to ionizing radiation is a natural part of life on earth. These exposures occur every day from radiation associated with naturally occurring radionuclides in soil, air, and food, and also from cosmic rays. In addition, many people are exposed to dental and medical diagnostic procedures and therapy involving: x rays, gamma rays, charged ...

The Origin and Optical Depth of Ionizing Radiation in the "Green Pea" Galaxies

open access: yes, 2013
Although Lyman continuum (LyC) radiation from star-forming galaxies likely drove the reionization of the Universe, observations of star-forming galaxies at low redshift generally indicate low LyC escape fractions.

Stabilized Intermediate Phase Via Pseudo‐Halide Anions Toward Highly Efficient and Light‐Soaking Stable Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
The formate pseudo‐halide anion is strategically introduced at the buried interface to stabilize the intermediate phases formed during perovskite crystallization. The controlled crystallization enhances crystallinity and alleviates tensile strain, eliminating residual PbI2 near the buried interface.

Ionizing Radiations in Entomology

open access: yes, 2015
Radiation in the form of particles (α or β particles and neutrons) or electromagnetic waves (gamma or X-rays) can induce biological effects in insect cells like in other living cells. Ionization and chemical damages to organic molecules can be caused directly (mostly by particulate types of radiation) or indirectly by free radicals.

Development of a plasma panel radiation detector: recent progress and key issues

open access: yes, 2012
A radiation detector based on plasma display panel technology, which is the principal component of plasma television displays is presented. Plasma Panel Sensor (PPS) technology is a variant of micropattern gas radiation detectors. The PPS is conceived as

Photo‐Assisted Zn‐Iodine Battery via Bifunctional Cathode with Iodine Host and Solar Response Boost

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A bifunctional cathode based on BiOI materials is developed for photo‐assisted Zn‐iodine batteries, serving as both an iodine host and a solar‐responsive material. This design enables dual reaction routes involving vacancy‐based iodine storage and reversible two steps iodine redox.

Asymmetric soft-error resistant memory [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
A memory system is provided, of the type that includes an error-correcting circuit that detects and corrects, that more efficiently utilizes the capacity of a memory formed of groups of binary cells whose states can be inadvertently switched by ionizing ...
