Energy dependence of the GAFCHROMIC LD‐V1 in the diagnostic radiographic modalities
Abstract The GAFCHROMIC LD‐V1 radiochromic film is widely used in dosimetry because it can provide high‐resolution two‐dimensional dose distributions without processing. This study aimed to evaluate the response characteristics at different effective energies, from the low‐energy range of mammography to the high‐energy range of computed tomography. Net

Abstract The NLR family pyrin domain‐containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome is a vital part of the innate immune response, whilst its aberrant activation drives the progression of several noncommunicable diseases. It induces caspase‐1 activation and the downstream substrates involved with the processing and secretion of the pro‐inflammatory cytokines IL‐1β ...

Modelling radiation-induced cell cycle delays
Ionizing radiation is known to delay the cell cycle progression. In particular after particle exposure significant delays have been observed and it has been shown that the extent of delay affects the expression of damage such as chromosome aberrations ...

Evolution of a hot primordial gas in the presence of an ionizing ultraviolet background: instabilities, bifurcations, and the formation of Lyman limit systems [PDF]
The time evolution of thermal and thermo-reactive instabilities of primordial gas in the presence of ionizing UV radiation is studied. We obtain conditions (depending on density, temperature, and UV radiation intensity) favorable for the formation of a multi-component medium.

The Regulation of Trace Metal Elements in Cancer Ferroptosis
The induction of ferroptosis inhibits tumor growth, enhances anticancer efficacy, and overcomes drug resistance. Recent evidence shows nonferrous metal elements play a role in ferroptosis. This review focuses on how trace metals regulate ferroptosis processes like iron accumulation, lipid peroxidation, and antioxidant defense.
