Observed Ionospheric Tidal Response to the Madden‐Julian Oscillation
Abstract The Madden‐Julian Oscillation (MJO) is the dominant mode of intraseasonal variability in the tropical troposphere and known to affect the tidal activity in the mesosphere and lower thermosphere (MLT). Using Constellation Observing System for Meteorology, Ionosphere, and Climate‐2 (COSMIC‐2) Global Ionospheric Specification electron density ...

Temporal and Spatial Evolution of Cold Ions in the Inner Magnetosphere During Large Magnetic Storms
Abstract To examine the temporal and spatial evolution of cold ions within the inner magnetosphere during geomagnetic storms, we conducted superposed epoch analyses on the electron density (Ne) and the partial ion densities of H+, He+, and O+ within the instrument frame energy range of 1–10 eV, using data obtained from the Van Allen Probes.

Abstract Steric sea‐level has been identified as the main driver of regional sea‐level trends. Altimetry‐based spatial patterns vary as a function of space and time. Thermosteric (temperature‐related) sea‐level trends have generally been found to be more important than the halosteric (salinity‐related) trends.

Abstract Whistler‐mode waves play a crucial role in shaping magnetospheric electron dynamics. Using Juno's observations, we investigate these waves in Jupiter's post‐midnight‐to‐dawn magnetosphere, spanning 20–80 Jupiter radii. Our survey reveals that whistler‐mode waves predominantly occur in the lobes, while the magnetodisk remains largely devoid of ...

Abstract Whistler‐mode waves scatter ultrarelativistic electrons in the radiation belts and accelerate them through resonant interactions. In simplified models, nonlinear phase trapping by high‐amplitude waves can increase electron energy by several MeV within seconds.
