Tilts in the Ionosphere [PDF]

open access: possibleNature, 1949
EXPERIENCE with high-frequency radio direction finding has suggested that some of the deviations from great-circle bearings observed on signals propagated by way of the ionosphere may be attributed to a tilting or wrinkling of the reflecting layer, particularly in the case of the F-layer.

Ionosphere and Weather [PDF]

open access: possibleNature, 1950
FOR some ten years, at the Zi Ka Wei Observatory, in Shanghai, China, we have been using, with exceptional success, a new technique in our weather forecasting. This method is based on an as yet unexplained correlation between the usual ionosphere echoes (E, F and F 2) and the future movement or behaviour of the three main air masses, which make the ...

The Ionosphere as a Plasma [PDF]

open access: possible, 1973
A plasma represents a collection of charged particles (electrons and ions) which interact by long range (Coulomb) forces, exhibiting a coherent behavior as the result of space charge effects [cf. 156].

Ionospheric Analysis and Ionospheric Modeling

1975
Abstract : A global ionospheric model of the ionosphere was developed which allows for the incorporation of hourly observations of ionospheric parameters. A polar ionospheric model for foF2 was developed which contains corrections to a median model which are characteristic of the polar region.
