Equion, an Equatorial Ionospheric Irregularity Experiment
Journal of Geophysical Research, 1977Abstract : This paper describes a coordinated rocket and ground based study to investigate Equatorial Spread-F irregularities. Measurements by the Jicamarca backscatter radar, ionosondes, airglow instrumentation and of radio scintillations were correlated with high spatial resolution measurements of electron densities, particle fluxes and VLF-ELF ...

Topside irregularities in the equatorial ionosphere
Journal of Atmospheric and Terrestrial Physics, 1977Abstract This paper is a brief review of ionospheric irregularities in the equatorial topside ionosphere. Results from topside sounders, direct measurement satellites, and the Jicamarca incoherent scatter radar are discussed. Scintillation observations and theories of irregularities are not discussed in detail as these are the subject of other review

Ionospheric irregularities observed by topside sounders
Proceedings of the IEEE, 1969Topside sounders observe electron-density irregularities in the ionosphere with dimensions of hundreds of meters to many kilometers across the magnetic field. Most irregularities are elongated and may extend thousands of kilometers along the field. The variation of electron density is normally a few percent or less.

Diffraction Radio Tomography of Ionospheric Irregularities
2003In forward scattering, the definition of the linear integrals q z (ρ, ω) (3.21) from the complex potential q(r,ω) reduces the ISP to the problem of tomographic reconstruction, i.e., the problem of reconstructing an object from its projections. Achievements in X-ray tomography in recent decades have been responsible for the intense development of ...

Ionospheric drifts and E-region irregularities
Planetary and Space Science, 1963Abstract A physical interpretation is attempted of the components of electrodynamic drift of ionization in a lightly ionized gas. Only one component, representing the flux of “neutral ionization” appears capable of leading to the formation of irregularities in the electron density.

Reflexions from irregularities in the ionosphere
Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series A. Mathematical and Physical Sciences, 1953As part of the investigation of travelling disturbances in the ionosphere during four years, a close study has been made of small daytime changes in the virtual height of F -region reflexions with periods of 10 min to 1 h. In some cases, complex reflexions are observed. It is shown that although three distinct types

Upward moving ionospheric irregularities over kodaikanal
Proceedings of the Indian Academy of Sciences - Section A, 1971The occurrence of upward moving kinks first found on ionograms at Thumba (Rastogi, 1970) has been confirmed to occur at another equatorial station, Kodaikanal. These kinks have been found in many records and they occur mostly during local summer months.

Ionospheric Irregularities caused by Acoustic Waves
Nature, 1967THIS communication presents some observational evidence for ionospheric irregularities being formed because of the propagation of acoustic waves. The acoustic waves themselves are believed to have been associated with an earthquake experienced at College, Alaska.
