Robust Detection of Ionospheric Irregularities
Navigation, 2001The approach outlined in this paper conservatively bounds the ionospheric errors even for the worst observed ionospheric conditions to date, using data sets taken from the operational receivers in the WAAS reference station network.

Ionospheric irregularities detected by GEONET
2020<p>Ionospheric irregularities disrupt the propagation of radio waves in the frequency range below a few GHz, a band used by navigation and communication systems such as Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS). Detailed understanding of the irregularity characteristics is helpful to estimate potential degradation of the ...

Irregularities in the upper ionosphere
Planetary and Space Science, 1964The electron density distribution in ionospheric F-region shows irregularities of dimensions ranging from less than 1 km to more than 1000 km. These have been studied as spread-F, radio star scintillation, auroral structure and other phenomena. A review of the experimental data indicates that at least in the case of spread-F there are two different ...

Space charge waves and ionospheric irregularities
Journal of Atmospheric and Terrestrial Physics, 1968Abstract The dispersion of space charge waves in a partially ionized plasma is investigated mainly for transverse propagation to both applied electro- and magneto-static fields, E0 and B0 respectively. The waves consist of six modes of which five are damped and only one increases with time. The wave of this mode in low frequency travels approximately

Nonperiodic irregularities in the ionosphere
Journal of Geophysical Research, 1971Continuous records of the electron content of the ionosphere at latitudes of 34°S and 42°S show both periodic and isolated (nonperiodic) fluctuations in approximately equal numbers. Both types have peaks of occurrence near noon and midnight, although the isolated irregularities peak 2 hours before the periodic type.

Modeling of tsinami-induced ionospheric irregularities
2008 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium, 2008This model shows that about an hour after the tsunami takes place, the ionosphere will be perturbed via the gravity wave. The height with maximum perturbation of electron number density is near 300 km, which is also the altitude of maximum background electron density.

Ionospheric Irregularities and Waves
2018Some of the fundamental scientific questions are raised, mainly focusing on the causes of mid-latitude ionospheric irregularities and waves, the upward coupling of energy in the M-I-A system, and the thermal structure. A definition is provided for irregular behaviour with appropriate examples of LSTIDs and MSTIDs in the European mid-latitude ionosphere.
