Ionospheric scintillation theory--A mini-review

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1976
In this paper we briefly review the theories that are used to interpret ionospheric scintillation data. We have emphasized the full structure of the complex signal, because it is now being directly measured with a number of satellites that carry multifrequency phase-coherent beacons.

RADIO STAR SCINTILLATIONS AND IONOSPHERIC DISTURBANCES

Canadian Journal of Physics, 1959
The generation mechanism for the ionization irregularities in the upper atmosphere which are responsible for radio star scintillations is considered. The general belief that scintillations are related to the spread-F phenomenon observed on ionosonde recordings is found to be an inadequate explanation for the scintillations at 53 Mc/s recorded at ...

Galileo Tracking Performance Under Ionosphere Scintillation

2013
The objective of this paper is to investigate the ionosphere scintillation impact on the Galileo E1 and E5 open service (OS) signals through the comparison of carrier to noise ratio, amplitude and phase scintillation indices. These indices are obtained by processing correlator and phase measurement outputs of a customized Galileo software receiver in ...
