Synthesis of Naphthoquinones by Pd‐Catalyzed Heck–Matsuda Arylation of Lapachol

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 29, Issue 38, 13 October 2026.
Direct Heck–Matsuda arylation of lapachol enables the efficient synthesis of diverse naphthoquinones under homogeneous and heterogeneous palladium catalysis. The methodology features broad substrate scope, gram‐scale applicability, and provides a practical platform for quinone diversification.

Soil Moisture and Prey Life Cycles Promote Seasonal Dietary Shift in a Grassland‐Breeding Migratory Shorebird

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 10, October 2026.
In this study, we utilized DNA metabarcoding of 207 fecal samples to describe the diet of flock‐foraging godwits in southwest Friesland, the Netherlands, during pre‐nesting (March) and post‐nesting (May–June) periods. To assess whether dietary changes were resource or selectivity based, we simultaneously quantified soil macrofauna biomass and measured ...

Trp53 Deficiency Increases the Frequency of Hprt Mutant T Lymphocytes Following High‐LET Iron Particle Irradiation of Mice

open access: yesEnvironmental and Molecular Mutagenesis, Volume 67, Issue 8-9, October‐November 2026.
ABSTRACT Charged particles like iron‐56 ions impose health risks in long‐term manned space exploration. This study was designed to define the impact of Trp53 status upon the manifestation of mutations in the hypoxanthine‐guanine phosphoribosyltransferase (Hprt) gene in splenic T‐cells following exposure of Trp53 wild‐type, hemizygous, and nullizygous ...

Low‐Intensity Precipitation Dominates Peninsular Spain (1961–2022)

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, Volume 46, Issue 12, October 2026.
Spatial analysis across Spain shows a shift in precipitation regimes (1961–2022) toward more frequent low‐intensity precipitation and reduced high‐intensity events, with localised increases in heavy precipitation along some coastal areas. This redistribution—captured through changes in precipitation frequency (RF) and volumetric contribution (RC ...

An all‐polymer blend for photovoltaic applications: A combined photoabsorption, photoemission and ab initio multi‐configurational study

open access: yesPolymer International, Volume 75, Issue 10, Page 983-992, October 2026.
Near‐edge X‐ray absorption fine structure, X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy and multi‐configuration self‐consistent field results show, respectively, preferential edge‐on and face‐on orientations for the thiophene and naphthalene diimide units of the PBDB‐T‐SF:P(NDI2OD‐T2) all‐polymer blend, and surface accumulation of the acceptor.
