IP telephony for interplanetary exploration
2004 IEEE Aerospace Conference Proceedings (IEEE Cat. No.04TH8720), 2004Voice over IP (VoIP), using techniques developed for telephony, is a natural method for providing voice services for planetary explorers. Providing the ability to make telephone calls over the Internet, VoIP can replace radiofrequency communications in remote environments that are not serviced by a conventional telephone system. VoIP can provide better

2005
There are mainly two types of used communication systems; circuit switched and packet switched networks. In circuit switched networks, there must be a dedicated path and a sequence of connected links between the calling and called stations. A connection with the proper resources has to be established prior to the start of information exchange.

Seamless Interconnection for Universal Services. Global Telecommunications Conference. GLOBECOM'99. (Cat. No.99CH37042), 2003
This paper addresses the challenges related to the interoperability of GSM and IP networks by presenting an interworking concept between the GSM and IP telephony services. The Mobile IP protocol provides mobile Internet hosts with data service roaming between IP sub-networks of different access technologies. Being a generic solution, Mobile IP may fail
