Res Ipsa Loquitur

AJN, American Journal of Nursing, 1963
T HE LATIN WORDS res ipsa loquitur are literally translated as "the thing speaks for itself." They are the name of a rule that, when it is applied by the court, enables an injured patient to obtain a favorable verdict even though he has not been able to show how he was injured and there has been no testimony to establish the negligence of the physician.
