Technical Note: Noninvasive mid‐IR fiber‐optic evanescent wave spectroscopy (FEWS) for early detection of skin cancers

Medical Physics, 2020
PurposeMelanoma is the most lethal of the three primary skin cancers, including also basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), which are less lethal. The accepted diagnosis process involves manually observing a suspicious lesion through a Dermascope (i.e., a magnifying glass), followed by a biopsy.

Sorption properties of technical lignins. III. IR-spectral investigation of the sorption capacity of technical lignins and their derivatives in relation to bile acids

Chemistry of Natural Compounds, 1998
It has been established by IR-spectral investigations that the sorption of bile acids by technical lignins takes place through the formation of hydrogen bonds between the functional groups of thelignins and the bile acids, the form of these bonds being determined by nature of the lignins and acids concerned.

Technical note Analysis of a simplified relation for estimating daily evapotranspiration from satellite thermal IR data

International Journal of Remote Sensing, 1989
Abstract Estimation of evapotranspiration from thermal infrared (IR)as been widely studied in recent years and in particular by methods using the simplified relation ETR − R n = A − B(T s−T a) proposed by Jackson et al. (1977) and thermal IR data from the NOAA satellite obtained near midday (local time).

[Study of radiation damage to nuclear membranes by IR spectroscopy and monolayer technics].

Radiobiologiia, 1985
A study was made of the effect of X-radiation on nuclear membranes. Good resolution spectra of nuclear membrane of equal effective thickness were obtained by the method of internal reflection spectroscopy in the infrared region. The experiment indicated the presence of major characteristic bands of protein and phospholipid molecular groups of non ...
