SUMMARY In a survey in Fumen of Rasht, Guilan Province, Iran, 5-3 per cent of dogs were found to be infected with Dioctophyma renale . This is the first record of an infection focus in this province. Only two cases of the disease were diagnosed in the dogs of the capital.
