Automated vitrector-assisted optical iridectomy: Customized iridectomy
Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2007An automated vitrector was used to create an optical iridectomy in 15 eyes of 15 patients with leucomatous corneal opacities. The optical iridectomy was performed successfully through a standard 1.2 mm incision in all eyes. No intraoperative complications were observed, and there was no case of iatrogenic cataract formation.

Iridectomy with Scleral Cautery
International Ophthalmology Clinics, 1981I have described modifications that have evolved over the years in doing iridectomy with cautery and have reviewed some of my experiences with the method. All filtering operations leave a great deal to be desired. Each technique has certain advantages and disadvantages. A great advantage of the cautery procedure is its safety and simplicity.
