Enucleation of pancreatic neoplasms

open access: yes, 2007
Standard resections for benign and borderline neoplasms of the pancreas are associated with a significant risk of long-term functional impairment, whereas enucleation preserves healthy parenchyma and pancreatic function.

Limbal cystotomy by fine needle aspiration of a translucent iris cyst in a horse

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Education, EarlyView.
Summary A 4‐year‐old Cremello crossbred mare was referred to the Equine Veterinary Teaching Hospital of Utrecht University for a translucent iris cyst from the dorsal pupillary margin corpora nigra in the right eye. Although noninvasive diode laser treatment is the preferred method of pigmented cyst ablation, two attempts did not result in disruption ...

Selective targeting of cortactin tandem repeat acetylation by human lysine deacetylases

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Cortactin function is regulated by acetylation at several lysine residues within its tandem repeat region. Using genetic code expansion to generate cortactin variants containing precisely defined acetylation marks, we show that HDAC6 is the primary enzyme removing these modifications, with SIRT1 and SIRT2 also acting at selected sites but with lower ...

Diagnostic and therapeutic role of endoscopy in gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms

open access: yes, 2014
Gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms have substantially increased over the last decades. Because of the indolent clinical course of the disease even in advance stages and the rise in the incidental diagnosis of small asymptomatic lesions, the ...

Targeted, receptor‐mediated delivery of a masked d‐amino acid cell‐penetrating peptide for cell‐specific phototoxicity

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
A targeted phototoxic peptide selectively accumulates in cells expressing chemokine‐like receptor 1 (CMKLR1). Phototoxicity of the native peptide is low, but cleavage by lysosomal protease cathepsin B releases a 6‐tetramethylrhodamine (TMR) labeled nona‐ᴅ‐arginine which mediates lysosomal rupture and cell death upon irradiation.

Lack of Detection of Feline Leukemia and Feline Sarcoma Viruses in Diffuse Iris Melanomas of Cats by Immunohistochemistry and Polymerase Chain Reaction

open access: yes, 2002
Diffuse iris melanoma was confirmed by light-microscopic examination in 10 formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded globes from 10 cats. To determine if feline leukemia virus or a replication defective feline leukemia virus, feline sarcoma virus, was present ...

Traditional serrated adenoma of the colorectum: Evolving concepts in histological classification and terminology

open access: yesHistopathology, EarlyView.
The definition of the colorectal traditional serrated adenoma (TSA) has evolved to recognize a broader morphological spectrum, including classical, flat and mixed lesions reflecting early development and neoplastic progression. Updated WHO classification highlights the need for consistent terminology to improve recognition and to distinguish TSA from ...

Peptide receptor radionuclide therapy as neoadjuvant therapy for resectable or potentially resectable pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms

open access: yes, 2018
Background: Peptide receptor radionuclide therapy is a valid therapeutic option for pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms. The aim of this study was to describe an initial experience with the use of peptide receptor radionuclide therapy as a neoadjuvant ...
