A light iris segmentation network

The Visual Computer, 2021
Iris segmentation plays a vital role in the iris recognition system. However, it faces many challenges in non-ideal situations. To improve the iris segmentation performance for possible mobile devices, this paper presents a light iris segmentation method based on fully convolutional network.

Toward Accurate and Fast Iris Segmentation for Iris Biometrics

IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, 2009
Iris segmentation is an essential module in iris recognition because it defines the effective image region used for subsequent processing such as feature extraction. Traditional iris segmentation methods often involve an exhaustive search of a large parameter space, which is time consuming and sensitive to noise.

Iris segmentation for non-ideal Iris biometric systems

Multimedia Tools and Applications, 2021
At present, iris recognition systems are highly demanded for covert applications such as monitoring terrorist activities at public places, walk-through portals, smart cities, etc. In general, these systems use image acquisition setups working under relaxed conditions due to which the quality of acquired images is usually poor.

Iris Segmentation and Verification

2007 Frontiers in the Convergence of Bioscience and Information Technologies, 2007
Iris recognition includes eye imaging, iris localization and verification and so on. This paper proposes a novel method for iris localization based on mask template and an efficient iris verification that employs cumulative sum based grey change analysis.

Novel Iris Segmentation Method

2012 International Conference on Multimedia Computing and Systems, 2012
Iris recognition is a proven, accurate means to identify people. Iris is a part of an eye image. To be possible the uses of this modality, it's indispensable to be detected and segmented. In this paper, we present our both methods: eye image preprocessing by method of Bias-Corrected Fuzzy C-Mean (BCFCM) and iris segmentation based on the active ...

Adaptive Iris Segmentation

2009
In this paper an adaptive iris segmentation algorithm is presented. In the proposed algorithm Otsu Threshold value, average gray level of the image, image size, Hough-Circle search are used for adaptive segmentation of irises. Otsu threshold is used for selecting threshold value in order to determine pupil location.

Robust and accurate iris segmentation in very noisy iris images

Image and Vision Computing, 2010
Iris segmentation plays an important role in an accurate iris recognition system. In less constrained environments where iris images are captured at-a-distance and on-the-move, iris segmentation becomes much more difficult due to the effects of significant variation of eye position and size, eyebrows, eyelashes, glasses and contact lenses, and hair ...

Recompression effects in iris segmentation

2015 International Conference on Biometrics (ICB), 2015
Rating a compression algorithm's performance is usually done in experimental studies, where researchers have frequently used JPEG pre-compressed data. It is not clear yet, whether results of such compression experiments are reliable if conducted from pre-compressed data.

An Iris Segmentation Procedure for Iris Recognition

2004
Iris segmentation is a critical stage in the whole iris recognition process In this paper, a procedure of iris segmentation is presented which was designed on the basis of the natural properties of the iris The proposed procedure consists of two main steps: circles localization and non-iris region detection In our method, we took into consideration of ...

Bayesian Chan-Vese segmentation for iris segmentation

2013 Visual Communications and Image Processing (VCIP), 2013
In this paper, we propose a new model as an improvement of active contours without edges model by Chan-Vese to perform iris segmentation. Our proposed algorithm formulates the energy function defined by Chan-Vese as a Bayesian optimization problem. The prior probability is incorporated into the energy function; the prior information of the curve can be
