Anaemia in patients with heart failure and mildly reduced or preserved ejection fraction: A prespecified analysis of the FINEARTS‐HF trial

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims Anaemia is common in heart failure with mildly reduced or preserved ejection fraction (HFmrEF/HFpEF) and associated with poor clinical outcomes. While renin–angiotensin system blockers reduce haemoglobin, little is known about the effect of mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists on haemoglobin and in patients with anaemia.

Iron, Anemia, and Iron Deficiency Anemia among Young Children in the United States

open access: yesNutrients, 2016
Iron deficiency and anemia are associated with impaired neurocognitive development and immune function in young children. Total body iron, calculated from serum ferritin and soluble transferrin receptor concentrations, and hemoglobin allow for monitoring

Ferric derisomaltose augments intrinsic skeletal muscle electron transport chain activity in heart failure: A FERRIC‐HF II molecular substudy

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
FERRIC‐HF II molecular substudy. FDI, ferric derisomaltose. Aims Skeletal muscle energetic augmentation might be a mechanism via which intravenous iron improves symptoms in heart failure, but no direct measurement of intrinsic mitochondrial function has been performed to support this notion.
