Identification of an iron–hepcidin complex [PDF]
Following its identification as a liver-expressed antimicrobial peptide, the hepcidin peptide was later shown to be a key player in iron homoeostasis. It is now proposed to be the 'iron hormone' which, by interacting with the iron transporter ferroportin,

Elimination of Odours from the Gaseous Phase on Cr- and Fe-modified Y-type Zeolites
Modified NaY-type zeolites, in which a portion of the sodium ions had been exchanged for chromium(III) or iron(III) ions, were studied as adsorbents. The modified zeolites were tested with respect to the adsorption of n-butylamine or n-butylthiol via the

Reaction of hydroxyurea with iron(III) : Formation of mono- and bis(hydroxyureato)-iron(III) complexes [PDF]
Complex formation reaction between iron(III) and hydroxyurea in acidic aqueous and dimethylformamide solutions were studied by UV/VIS spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry and EPR spectroscopy. Under conditions of an excess of hydroxyurea over iron(III, mono- and bis(hydoxyureato)iron(III) complexes are formed.

The sequestration of phosphate by iron phases in the sediments from Lake Rotorua, New Zealand [PDF]
A sequential extraction method was used to determine which dominant sedimentary mineral phase was involved in phosphorus retention in the sediments of Lake Rotorua and to verify the importance of iron phases in the role as a phosphorus sink. The observed

Electrocatalytic CO2 reduction at low overpotentials using iron(III) tetra(meso-thienyl)porphyrins [PDF]
The optical and electrochemical properties, as well as the CO2 reduction capability of two different iron(III) thienyl-porphyrins, iron(III) tetra(meso-thien-2-yl)porphyrin (FeTThP) and iron(III) tetra(meso-5-methylthien-2-yl)porphyrin (FeTThMeP), are ...

Progressive Parkinsonism in PPP2R5D‐Related Neurodevelopmental Disorder
ABSTRACT PPP2R5D‐related neurodevelopmental disorder (Houge–Janssens syndrome type 1) is a rare autosomal dominant condition characterized by macrocephaly, intellectual disability, and epilepsy. Progressive parkinsonism is an emerging adult phenotype that neurologists should be aware of since timely genetic diagnosis opens the door to disease‐modifying

Synthetic Bio-Graphene Based Nanomaterials through Different Iron Catalysts
Kraft lignin was catalytically graphitized to graphene-based nanostructures at 1000 °C under argon atmosphere with four iron catalysts, iron(III) nitrate (Fe-N); iron(II) chloride (Fe-Cl2); iron(III) chloride (Fe-Cl3); and iron(II) sulfate (Fe-S ...

Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare autoimmune disease defined by immune dysregulation, vasculopathy, and progressive fibrosis of the skin and internal organs. Despite advances in care, major complications such as interstitial lung disease (ILD) and myocardial involvement remain the leading causes of morbidity and mortality.
