SummaryMeasurements have been made of the decrease in specific activity of radioiron in circulating red cells of eight animal species. From these data calculations of body iron turnover have been made and establish a general inverse relationship between body size and rate of external iron exchange.

Summary“Cell poor” and “cell rich” sweat samples from 25 normal subjects have been analyzed (total of 118 determinations). The iron content of “cell poor” sweat was negligible. On the other hand “cell rich” sweat contained a high concentration of iron.

Segregation of Iron Losses From Rotational Field Measurements and Application to Electrical Machine [PDF]
This paper presents a methodology for identifying a novel iron loss model and segregating the different loss components from measurements on a single sheet tester with alternating and rotating fields. The eddy current losses are first extracted with a 1D

Effect of Multilevel Inverter Supply on Core Losses in Magnetic Materials and Electrical Machines [PDF]
The effect of multilevel inverter supply on power losses in magnetic cores and electrical machines is studied. A dynamic numerical model for the hysteresis, eddy current, and excess losses in a core lamination is first developed.

Comparison of Nonoriented and Grain-Oriented Material in an Axial Flux Permanent-Magnet Machine [PDF]
The performance and iron losses of an axial flux permanent-magnet synchronous machine (AFPMSM) using nonoriented (NO) steel are compared with the performance and iron losses of an AFPMSM using grain-oriented (GO) material.

Iron Losses Prediction with PWM Supply Using Low and High Frequency Measurements: Analysis and Results Comparison [PDF]
In this paper, two different methods for iron loss prediction are analyzed. The first method is based on the classical separation of loss contributions (hysteresis, eddy-current, and excess losses).

Synchronous reluctance motor iron losses: considering machine non-linearity at MTPA, FW, and MTPV operating conditions [PDF]
Synchronous reluctance machine has high flux density fluctuations in the iron due to the high harmonics results from the rotor anisotropy. Thus, an accurate computation of the iron losses is of paramount importance, especially during the design stage. In

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only
